Weitblick - Restaurant — Restaurant in Kaprun

We discovered Weitblick during our stay in Kaprun and ended up visiting about five times. Honestly, my only regret is that I didn’t find this place earlier. For anyone visiting Kaprun, I cannot emphasize enough: this restaurant is a must. Whether for breakfast or dinner, you simply cannot leave Kaprun without eating here.

Food Quality & Freshness Every dish reflects freshness. The restaurant sources nearly everything locally, within just a two-kilometer radius. You can taste the difference immediately—the bread, vegetables, dairy, and meats are all top-notch. Dinner was outstanding, and the breakfast here was simply the best I’ve ever experienced.

Special Experiences One evening we joined their barbecue event, and it turned into one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in Europe. Chris, who served us, guided us with every detail about the meats—beef and lamb—prepared with such care. The atmosphere, the flavors, and the way everything was explained made it unforgettable.

Hospitality & Team More than just food, what truly sets Weitblick apart is the people. Chris made us feel at home, not only guiding us in Kaprun but even giving us tips for our next stop in Salzburg. We had many conversations, and his kindness felt like being with family. Matthew gave us the same feeling—friendly, thoughtful, and even bonding over gaming, something we both share. Their warmth and hospitality left such an impression that even now, while in Salzburg, I find myself wishing to go back to Kaprun just for the experience here.

There was hair in the food

There were many issues. First of all: Unfortunately the service is very slow. The menu is very limited and still it took them 40 min to prepare a spagetti with tomato sauce. If you just wanna have cake and coffee it might be ok but otherwise it's just waste of time. The panoramic view is enjoyable if you sit outside, otherwise it's a regular place. And it's definitely overpriced.

Lastly, there was hair!!! in my food and their reaction was just saying "we apologize, but these things can happen". The people who were preparing the food were not covering their hair or wearing hair caps. I'm very disappointed with their hygiene standards as well as how they take it easy and try...

I have visited this place almost every year now in summer when i came to kaprun, last year everything was perfect the food, atmosphere and service. Unfortunately, when I visited the place this year everything was changed. The tables were so dirty we have waited for someone to give us the menu for so long till we go and order by ourselves in the cashier , waitresses didn’t pass our table at all and they have the worst attitude when we try to ask or order.
