I have just returned from a weeks stay in Edelweiss. I cannot stress enough DO NOT stay here. This was my 11th time going abroad for a one week ski holiday and I have never had hassle before now. We woke the first morning to breakfast which is a very poor selection of cold meat, boiled eggs, cereal and bread. My partner asked for bacon which he was told they only can give what is already laid out. The following morning the group in the table next to us were eating bacon and ommelettes? This was only a very small issue that did not bother us. The kicthen itself is filthy though so do not eat here. There is a dog roming around the dirty kitchen and I saw a French guy who said there was animal food in his hair. The waitress on breakfast was so lovely she was a young blonde lady with poor english but she was very nice. The cleaning staff were lovely too. On our second night there at 10pm myself and my partner were on the balcony laughing about something and enjoying our holidays, I was in my pjamas and had my headpiece removed and before I knew it the male owner (dark hair and glasses) barged straight into our room and screamed at us to SHUT THE F**K UP he was extremely aggresive and not only did I now not feel safe in the hotel but I was now extremely uncomfortable for the rest of the week knowing he would and could unlock my door and walk in at any point and I feared removing my head piece. Unfortunetly this was the first of three times staff memebers allowed themselves into our room without permission and once I was in the shower! Another morning we were woken by knocks on the door of the lady owner giving out that we did not give our passport numbers. This really annoyed me as we were never told to give these so I feel she had no right giving out to us for something we were simply unaware of. As the week went on and we were afraid to return to the hotel I spoke with bar and restaurant owners who said Edelweiss has been known for robbing money in rooms and letting themselves in and out whether you are there or not. I also spoke with a couple who stayed there aswel and said the male owner was aggressive in general and had frightened them by walking in one night when they were sleeping. Overall the staff were rude and aggresive, the hotel itself is terrible, the bedrooms are more like hostels than a hotel and the food was disgusting. I have stayed in loads of amazing hotels in Mayrhofen so please avoid this...
Read moreHaving just returned from staying here for a week of skiing (31st Dec 22-7th Jan 23), I could not recommend this hotel enough. Firstly, I would like to say DO NOT listen to the negative reviews given about this hotel, from our experience none of them could be true. I’ve spent a great deal of time away skiing and travelled around the globe with work, this has been one of the nicest and warmest welcoming stays to date. Upon arrival we were given a warm welcome quickly and smoothly checked in then escorted to our room. The room being a typically decorated Austrian hotel room was scrupulously clean and well prepared for our arrival, it also boasted a beautiful westerly mountain picturesque view with Penkenbahn gondola in the backdrop.||The hotel bar/restaurant was exceptionally clean and well laid out, using every space available to cater for the restaurant guests. We ate at the Edelweiss 4 nights out of 7 dining on pizzas, burgers, salads and a mixed grill and can hand on heart say the food was absolutely exceptional. The restaurant staff were always friendly and happy to help despite being run off their feet during service times. One tip I would recommend for eating here is to book a table because the restaurant is at capacity from 18:00-20:00, just goes to show how good the food is at the Edelweiss.||Breakfast is served as standard continental style, cereals, fruit, meats, cheese, breads, spreads, boiled eggs, pastries and cakes with fruit juices, teas and coffees available. (So Brits do not go expecting a full English/cooked breakfast if you want that go skiing in Scotland).||Overall, we were incredibly impressed with the Edelweiss, which exceeded our expectations, we would most certainly stay here again....
