Jausenstation Dornerhof — Restaurant in Sankt Gilgen

This place gives a very unwelcoming vibe, especially to foreigners or tourists who are not from the surrounding neighborhood. The service feels cold, almost as if they want you to leave right away. The menu is extremely limited, and it seems like the place only caters to locals in the area. The waitress not only gave us strange, judgmental looks, but also gossiped about us in her own language with the table next to us, assuming we wouldn’t understand — which we actually did. On top of that, they only accept cash, but they don’t inform you beforehand which is unacceptable in this day and age where card payments are the norm. The sad truth is that the location is the only good thing about this place. I genuinely hope a serious investor takes over, renovates it, and builds something worth visiting. Bin seit ≈ 3 Jahren im Salzkammergut zuhause und im Tourismus, (nicht in der Gastro) in St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee tätig. Öfter gehört das es beim Dornerhof jeden Donnerstag ein Kistenbratl gibt. War letzten Donnerstag mit einer Freundin die vegan ist dort. Da es auch eine Jausenstation für alle ist. Bei einem sehr schönen, sommerlichen Abend mit Sonnenuntergang im Gastgarten gesessen. Der Blick auf den Wolfgangsee, in die Berge mit Seeduft ein WOW-MEGA, EINZIGARTIGES... Erlebnis. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, flott bei Tisch, der gerade frei wurde als wir ankamen. Der Tisch wurde sofort sauber gewischt. Getränke so schnell wie möglich bestellten können. Für meine Freundin ein veganes Erdöpfökasbrot und für mich eine Portion Kistenbratl mit und Krenn, 1 Stk. Pfefferoni und Brot bestellet. Den Extrawunsch für mich zum Kistenbratl eine kleine Portion Bratensaft dazu bestellen, da ich Bratensaft zum Kistenbratl sehr liebe wurde von der Kellnerin (Chefin) sofort abgeblockt und Sie sagte: Bratensaft gibt es keinen, der ist schon gestockt. Hab trotzdem eine Portion Kistenbratl bestellt. Da das Abendessen eigentlich ein Mittagessen für uns war. Das Kistenbratl war zum Glück saftig mit knuspriger Schwarte. Mit ein bisschen Bratensaft wäre es ein fantastisches, einzigartiges Krustebratl gewesen.

Tipps an den Dornerhof: Auch auf Extrawünsche von Gästen ein bisschen eingehen und den Betrag dafür ganz normal mit Aufpreis dafür verrechnen!!! Frischer Bratensaft kann auch aufgewärmt oder...

This is a must-visit stop-over on your journey through the Salzkammergut. Run by some of the most genuinely nice locals, this place is a fantastic example of what the region is all about. The only thing that can top the scenic views over Wolfgangsee, are the food platters they serve here. It's such a nice place to have a bite and take a breath (plus, they have wi-fi!).
