I am utterly appalled by the horrific service my group experienced today at this café. The staff member who took our order displayed an unacceptable level of disrespect and unprofessionalism.
If you're reading this, yes, you — 'the waiter guy' — you ought to reflect on how your actions don’t just damage your reputation, but also tarnish the image of your country for visitors who come here with open minds and hearts.
Not everyone who walks into your café will be familiar with the ordering system in Austria — that’s why you are there: to assist, not to humiliate. Instead, you chose to mock us, circling your finger around your head while laughing at us, as if we were some group of lunatics. Your condescending and rude behavior was not only offensive but also deeply unwelcoming.
Racism and prejudice have no place in a café or anywhere else. To treat customers — especially visitors — with such disdain simply because of where they come from is beyond unacceptable.
Let me be clear: none of my group members will EVER recommend this establishment to anyone. Instead, we will actively caution others to avoid this place at all costs.
I hope you take this review as a wake-up call and address the appalling attitude displayed here. Hospitality matters, and so does respect.

Read more“Der Mann, der verwöhnt” is a bakery and coffee shop chain in Vienna with long tradition, established in 1860, and here in the Sonnwendviertel I like it the most. On the one hand for its pastries, tarts, cakes, and desserts of all kind, and on the other hand for its location in the Sonnwendviertel, in the big Helmut-Zilk-Park, named after Vienna’s former mayor, right in the middle of this newly erected trendy neighborhood next to the Central Train Station of Vienna, the Wien Hauptbahnhof. This special location on this wide and open park makes this place a very sunny one, where you can enjoy your coffee and dessert, while sitting in the patio of the “Der Mann, der verwöhnt”. The pastries and desserts are very delicious and represent the Austrian Pastry World in a good way, as the prices are reasonable and the variety is big.
We had a Powidl-Golatsche, a pastry filled with Plum Jam and Almond Crisps on top of it and a Früchteplunder, a pastry covered with Fruits. For coffee we had a Café Verlängerter and a Cappuccino.
The interior of this place is colorful and the kid’s corner, the comfy seating and even a sofa lounge contributes to the nice atmosphere.

I visited this place with friends of mine (most of them are non-white), and a server (white man) was laughing at our poor German and made fun of us every time he went to our table. Felt both humiliated and ashamed. The server was also made screw loose sign (crazy sign) behind our back, and one of my friend saw it. Deeply disappointed with their service. Racial discrimination? Yes. Micro aggression? Yes. Felt uncomfortable and unwelcome despite being customers here. If you want to mock us, at least try to do it when none of us could see it.
❗️MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR BILL❗️
