Yesterday I had my first visit to the "Panzerhalle". It was really impressing to see all those tanks. I had started with tanks built at the beginning of the 20th century, and ended with those which were built at the end of the 20th century. If I remember correctly, there were no tanks from the 21st century. The guide, which explained a lot of things concerning the logistics which are necessary for tanks, was really excellent. It was a great experience.

The only thing I was missing, is that there was no possibility to get into a tank and experience that feeling. Furthermore, in some other museums there are kind of simulators to get in touch with the objects even more. But, to be honest, those museums have much more...

Don't be fooled by the timetable!! Don't be fooled by the timetable!! Don't be fooled by the timetable!!

The museum owner doesn't post any further info which is annoyingly bothering! We went there to visit the Military History Museum and this one on Sunday, yet we were so disappointed these guys don't really seem to preserve these tanks well (those look like abandoned outside), and they don't bother themselves to advise travelers ONLY COME ON 1st SUN IN EVERY MONTH! Totally inappropriate, unprofessional, and impolite. Worst...

After visiting the military museum (this is excellent place) we visited also the tank hall 5 - 10 min walk from the main museum. This was total disappointment. Some high hopes to see large number of tanks, but it took somewhat 10 min to go through all what they had to present. If you wan't to spend your time with this exhibition, be my guest, but it was not worth of walking there. If you are interested of tanks, I recommend Bovington tank museum in UK, I spent there 1,5 days and this was still a short visit.

Love it, was there on the first Sunday of the month so free entry. It's not big just the one hall, but interesting, everything is focused around Austrian tank development, and use history. Nice 2 hour visit with the kids. Go to for all world of tank players! Combine it with a visit to the "Heeresgeschichtliche Museum" aka military museum, although that museum is large and needs more than one day to see everything.

Really disappointed with the tank hall. For one it is about a 10 minute walk from the main museum, there is very little signage that indicates that it is there and also the closing time is at 4pm whereas the museum opens till 5pm. We were not aware of this and hence missed it. And also we weren’t aware it only opens on weekends. So please note the opening hours if you intend to come here.
