Pho 33 — Restaurant in Vienna

Long story short: I waited over an hour and never got the pho I ordered.

Long story long: I came in around 21:00 on a Thursday, and it wasn't busy -- just one family who appeared to have finished eating and another couple drinking. So, I seat myself and wait quite a while to be brought a menu. I ordered a beer, summer rolls and their pho special, Pho 33. I received my beer (delicious) and summer rolls (tasteless) and then waited....and waited... and waited. Closing time rolled around and I still hadn't received my pho, so I went to the cashier and asked if I could just get it to-go. He agreed, I paid, and he went back into the kitchen. He came out several minutes later and said, "Sorry, the cook threw your soup away!" I stood in shock and confusion and asked, " Why would he do that?" After some back and forth with the server, an older gentleman came out and asked the server what they issue was and the server explained that my "leftovers" had been thrown out. The older guy shrugged, took out his wallet and put a 20 cent euro on the counter and flicked his wrist repeatedly at me saying, "Here. Now go! Go!" I looked at the 20 cents and said, "But I never got my soup!" The server asked, "then why was it on your check?" I stood again in complete disbelief. The older gentleman shrugged again, took out the cost of the Pho 33 and again said, "Here. Now GO!" The server was, at least, a bit apologetic, but I left feeling incredibly confused, angry and very hungry.

I'm really not sure how such a mishap could happen with almost no one else in the restaurant and I definitely didn't appreciated being shooed like some bottom-feeder.

I stopped in here on a Sunday evening for some food and was not at all disappointed with my choice. It was a very warm evening so I treated myself to a Vietnamese beer which I have never experienced before. Very light crisp and refreshing! I had a starter of Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp to go with this beer. Then for my main course I chose the crispy beef with pineapple and of course a second beer! My experience was great and I will not hesitate to go to Pho 33 again! The food is great and despite being next to the road my outdoor dining experience was peaceful and relaxing.
