Ristorante Scala — Restaurant in Vienna

I went to Scala restaurant with my sister in law. I was impressed with the little cute and stylish restaurant in the quiet street of Vienna in 9th Bezirk. The staff is so welcoming and nice. And the food there is just the best. As a pasta lover I definitely recommend it! I ordered gnocchi Quattro formaggi that were so nice and soft with really nice cheesy sauce, and my sister in law ordered tortellini with mushroom sauce. Both dishes were crazy delicious and very big portions. But ofcourse we had to take something for our heart and I can just say this is a must if you go here - a chocolate lava cake - ! Trust me it makes everything better, and on top of it a drink of spritz La vie en Rose… your evening just can’t get any better! Warmly recommend! And definitely coming back! The Restaurant looks fancy, has an intimate and classy touch to it, and the service is kind.

Food took fairly long to arrive, and we were the only occupied table - 6 people. Took around 20 minutes, and all of us had pasta.

I chose the carbonara, which cost 13.50€, and while those are decent prices for Vienna - making a carbonara with heavy cream instead of eggs necessarily takes its value to 0. If that weren’t enough, I had to add a decent amount of salt and pepper on it so that the thought that I spent over 10€ in an unseasoned carbonara made with heavy cream wouldn’t be so insufferable.

I made the mistake to go to the so called “Caffè a Casa”, which is the neighboring place to “Ristorante Scala”. Even if they serve drinks and food to their customers and even have a terrace, they don’t have a toilet for their customers (I don’t understand how did they get a license). So I had an emergency and I had to look urgently for an alternative.

Luckily, the staff at “Scala” were so friendly and they let me use their toilet, which is not self-evident. I guess I am not the first person in this situation. The place was very clean with a very enjoyable atmosphere. I am very thankful to them and I told them I will go back soon there and have dinner with some friends. I can’t...
