The Golden Harp - Irish Pub Alsergrund — Restaurant in Vienna

The super cozy ambience and friendly waitstaff already cheered me up as soon as I entered the pub. The seats were comfortable too. My Irish burger was excellent. It had a gooey easy sunny side and fried bacon strips. The beef patty was satisfyingly thick and well done, and tasty. My usual sensitive point is the burger buns...I was so glad to find them nicely toasted. My partner had a vegan burger. I tried the patty. If I had not known, I would have certainly thought it was real meat! The texture and flavor of the mock meat burger patty was so real!! Loved it! The vegan burger came with sweet potato fries, and meat bur6came with regular potato fries. I had an aperol with prosecco. It was excellent and just the perfect thing after a long tiring day at work. As a reviewer, if I have complain at all, the lettuce, cucumber slices and tomato piece all could have been fresher. They looked as tired and wilted as me when I came in!! Will certainly come here again and greatly recommend...

It’s the Austrian equivalent of an Irish pub.

Very small selection of beers on tap (they had no idea what a Harp beer was, which is ironic considering the restaurant is named after it), but had a tasty Guinness and a good burger, classic pub food.

Not sure if it’s customary to have the server add whatever tip they wish - but pay attention when paying, they have a “let me decide” button for the tip option which the servers ted to use liberally without any explanation. I went back because I hadn’t seen the prompt and felt guilty wanting to make sure I left at least something, only to realize it was me who got played - having a tip casually added to my bill. So be vigilant.

Overall - if you’re looking for basic pub food and a beer during your 1 night stay in Vienna close to the train station, expect to get worked like a tourist....

Quick and friendly staff. I took one 🌟 down because of burgers we ate were not good prepared. Super hot meat, but cold, dry and hard burger bun. Chef has probably not checked how much time does he need for meat to grill and it took longer so that bun got dry and hard or they garnished the bun in advance waiting for new order. I can't think of anything else what could accure. Anyway another time we had onion rings, and they were top! Beer like in heaven, draft Guinness and Kilkenny... Great music choice, wonderful ambient and atmosphere. Suitable for vegetarians...
