I was really excited to try out this restaurant after reading the good reviews, but it turned out to be a letdown.
When we got there, we were greeted by two waitresses. Unfortunately, the one serving our table looked really unhappy and unsatisfied with her life, displaying a careless tone of voice without a hint of a smile. I mean, I get it, gastronomy is tough, I do have this experience, but that was not the attitude you should give to a customer. She even brought us the wrong beer, which wasn't a great start.
When I asked for a FRESHLY PRESSED (!!!) carrot juice without ginger, she said they couldn't do it. Why? I could only think of one reason for this: it was likely already prepared in advance which is unacceptable, especially considering the 5 euros that they charge for 250 grams of it.
When our food finally arrived, my Rindbacken dish was not as good as I expected, the sauce was too sweet for my liking. The meat itself was tender though, so I guess it is the matter of taste. However, if you prefer your meal with greens, you'll need to order a salad separately because my meal was pure meat, sweet potato purée and a haunting taste of over sweetened sause.
The tea presentation was interesting, they gave us fresh herbs, but the tea eventually tasted like plain water because the water wasn't hot enough.
After we finished eating, the waitress completely ignored us. Our table was left dirty, and we couldn't get her attention for dessert.
Overall, it was the worst restaurant experience in Vienna I've had. The service was poor, and the food and drinks didn't make up for it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. UPD: Dear Treu am Platzl Team,
While I appreciate your perspective, I would like to clarify a few points.
Firstly, I want to emphasize that my intention was not to make assumptions about your waitress's personal life. My observations were solely based on her demeanor during my visit.
Regarding the freshly pressed carrot juice, I appreciate your explanation of the logistical challenges involved. However, as a customer, my expectation was to receive what was advertised on the menu. Perhaps clarifying that the juice is freshly made daily would help manage expectations.
Lastly, I want to repeat that my review was meant to provide constructive feedback for others to take into consideration. I do hope that such issues will not recur in the future, and that other visitors will be satisfied.
Thank you for your response, I hope you will address those issues and take steps to...
Read moreThe place has great location - very picturesque, unfortunately, that is all it has to offer. The bread for the sandwiches was stale and the Ramasuri sandwich was not very tasty, plus the candied bacon was more of a garnish than an ingredient. The Spicy mango avocado was nicely dressed, but way too much salad - the toast was buried under it. The staff was also quite slow.. and looking at some other reviews, it seems to happen often. We were waiting for 20 minutes after being seated to order (and we were in fact on the right terrace). The bucket with the cutlery was very dirty and the cutlery was put in eating side down, so don’t forget to clean it before you eat. We were excited to give this place a shot but I don’t think we will be coming back. Can definitely find...
Read moreThis café, nestled on the quiet square in front of the Maria Treu Catholic Church, has a charming atmosphere, and its quirky name adds to the appeal. ⛪ On a rainy Sunday, it was packed with people seeking shelter indoors, making the space feel quite cramped, with tables set close together. Despite this, the local bread was delicious, and the omelet was a tasty choice. 🍞🍳 As always in Vienna, the coffee was excellent—rich and flavorful. ☕️
The service can vary, but we were fortunate to have a very attentive and courteous server. Overall, it's a lovely spot, especially when the weather allows for outdoor seating, where you can fully enjoy the peaceful...
