Hello reader. I am not from here and this is my first time in this town. I don’t know anyone at this place. And I really don’t like most food over here. BUT…. We rolled into town and went to the fancy palace across the avenue for a tour. This restaurant was very close to it. I found it to be very cool and I will tell you why; Firstly, the waiters and staff are very cool and very professional. Secondly, it has an old school family restaurant vibe as in they have been there forever and don’t need to advertise. The place is also very clean, and the tables reminded me of my grandmas dining room, the little pitcher of dried flowers was a very classy touch. Reader, get the barbecue for two platter, and come hungry. The plate had pork chops, tender chicken and what tasted like homemade sausage. The potatoes came fancy fried AND some came boiled in what I think was a broth so it was infused, and then topped with a creamy sour cream… it blew my mind. I don’t even eat sour cream because in the states it’s thick like yogurt, this was not, it was real thin and flavorful, it was also great on the pork chop! I also ordered ribs that were also great they came with potatoes and sour cream and this great tan colored sauce, in little cups to dip. Y’all I think they make everything in house. There is no way it came from Walmart. We also had the fried anchovies which were very lightly battered and not greasy, crush the lemon and they spay them with vinegar and you got a party! The place smells great like properly grilled meat etc. The beer is cold and plenty of it, all at a great price. And the front is the house (bar area ) has mix music play list rocking everything cool from Pink Floyd to Miami sound machine. We elected to sit there. It was so good I took the leftovers to go. Which they boxed up for us and then produced each of us a shot of plum brandy to fight off the winter cold. Very cool. They have a garden in the back for nice weather days I expect it is beautiful. Reader. I didn’t try anything else as I was stuffed. But if the rest of the plates were anything like the ballers feast I had, you will be alright. Reader this place is dialed in. We spent hours here drinking beer and eating proper grub. We will be going back before we hit the road. If I was y’all, I would not pass this joint up. Good...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of having lunch at a delightful restaurant that offered both authentic Austrian cuisine and a magnificent garden setting. The experience was good, and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts.
First and foremost, the Austrian food at this restaurant was an absolute treat for the taste buds. Each dish was crafted with precision and showcased the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Austria. From the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a memorable gastronomic journey. The traditional Wiener Schnitzel, tender and golden, was a true masterpiece, perfectly complemented by a side of warm, buttery spaetzle. The flavors of the sausages and sauerkraut were as authentic as they come, transporting me straight to the charming streets of Vienna. The dedication to quality ingredients and the skillful execution of each dish were evident in every bite.
What truly elevated my dining experience was the restaurant's beautiful garden. As I stepped outside, I was greeted by a lush oasis of vibrant flowers, neatly trimmed hedges, and elegant, comfortable seating. The serene atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal, as I basked in the warm sunshine and savored the tranquil surroundings. It was a true escape from the bustling city life, allowing me to unwind and immerse myself in the beauty of nature while enjoying my delectable meal.
In addition to the incredible food and enchanting garden, the restaurant's attentive and knowledgeable from some staff contributed to the overall excellence of the establishment, but not all of them.
In conclusion, this restaurant's Austrian cuisine and picturesque garden setting left a lasting impression on me. The flavors of Austria came alive on my plate, transporting me to the heart of this beautiful country with each bite. The tranquil garden provided a serene and idyllic atmosphere, elevating my dining experience to new heights. With a staff that not fully exemplified genuine hospitality,( except the two great waitresses) this establishment truly stands out as a remarkable destination for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Austria and a memorable dining experience surrounded by...
Read moreI am deeply disappointed to leave a negative review on an explicit and highly unprofessional encounter at Wiener Grill Haus this evening. As Chinese nationals living in Europe, we are unfortunately not unfamiliar with subtle forms of microaggression, but the behavior we experienced tonight was shockingly direct and completely unacceptable, especially in a city as cosmopolitan as Vienna.
Our table was reserved by our Japanese friends, and the waiter who served us assumed we were all Japanese. He began by praising Japan, asking, “You’re from Japan, right? I like Japanese people; Not China? China is bad.” We were stunned by his comment but chose not to react immediately, assuming he was misguidedly trying to engage with his customers. However, when we were settling the bill, our friend gently advised him that making such judgments based on nationality is inappropriate. Rather than apologizing, the waiter responded by saying, “I don’t take Chinese customers,” and went on to justify his stance by claiming that many of his colleagues share his view, as they believe Chinese customers don’t smile as much as other Asian clients.
We refrained from arguing further and even left a tip (we as visitors to the city were respectful- saying ‘thank you’ all the time throughout the dinner), but the incident left us deeply unsettled. After discussing the situation, we felt compelled to share this experience. It is alarming that such discriminatory attitudes are tolerated in a service-oriented establishment. If this is truly the restaurant’s stance, it should be clearly stated on your website that you do not welcome Chinese customers, so that no one’s time is wasted.
We think the management should to address this issue seriously. Discriminatory behavior has no place in hospitality, and I hope that steps will be taken to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
To fellow Chinese nationals or those with a similar ethnic background, I strongly recommend finding another Austrian restaurant where you are likely to be treated with the kindness and respect that should be standard in any...
