Asmat — Restaurant in Baku City

We were lucky. Walked in on Thursday evening… live 5 piece band. They were amazing! Belting out local pop music with full gusto! Asmat is a restaurant with a main dining room, terrace and another room for smoking. It’s apparent artwork by locals hang on the walls and revolve frequently. Hostess Seva scored us the last table in the main dining room. The atmosphere was very cosmopolitan. Mr Aziz the wine expert was extremely patient with his explanation on the different local wines. We finally selected a white that’s made from a Pinot Noir grape! Delicious on every level. Server Fidan was remarkably efficient and friendly. Burrata salad was tasty. Delivery. The burrata salad had tiniest amount of greens and tomatoes and no breadstick. The “shrimp” ravioli hadn’t been anywhere near shrimp - i think they had potatoes inside - or something else - not sure because it was tasteless. Went here with friends. We ordered pizzas and 15 minutes later they said they had no pizza. We ordered pasta instead. 2 hours later we received our food, all while the waiters laid out food at a table next to us - where no one was sitting and the guests didn’t arrive for another 30 min. When our food came, it wasn’t even hot. Obviously, we were not the restaurant’s priority. Won’t be going...
