Ordered: Mushroom soup: 5/5 Baku eggplant: 4.5/5 (cubes of fried eggplant with sesame seeds and a piquant sauce) Tasty but could have supplied more diced tomato. Chicken Kiev with peas and potato: 5/5 Chicken Kiev was very well-prepared. Asked that they omit the ketchup and it was omitted as requested. Very small quantity of peas (delicious but were already cold) Potatoes, large wedges apparently fried, were tasty but would have preferred mashed with the chicken Kiev Pork ribs with potato cubes: 2/5 Four ribs, mostly bone, was supplied and the quantity of potato relative to meat was highly skewed: a lot of potato, little meat. Needed my serrated knife to cut what meat was on the bone. The pork was not piquaint. Would have been better had they supplied a single rib with ample meat. What I was served for 21 manat was poor value for money. I preferred the potato that was served with the chicken Kiev more than the potato served with the ribs. Blini with cottage cheese: 5/5 served with sour cream but with no extraneous sauce (as requested) Washed down with a liter of kvass: 5/5. In the past I have ordered from. Mama Nakormila barbecued ribs, which were delicious but expensive; however, although expensive, they were worth the expense. The ribs I described above were extremely poor in comparison. I don't want to penalize the restaurant unduly for one sub-par entree but I would have better suited me either to have ordered a double portion of the chicken kiev or to have enquired whether the expensive pork ribs I ordered previously from a separate hand-written menu...
Read moreA small and cozy restaurant! Which serves traditional Russian/Ukrainian dishes.
The waiter was super nice, explained everything very well and was patient.
The traditional dishes were amazing. Very tasty and big portions. However, the signature burger with the potato instead of bread wasn’t tasty to my opinion, but it was well made.
Dinner was pretty pricey (47manat pp) without any alcoholic beverages. And the restaurant was empty when we arrived (21:40) which didn’t contribute to the environment.
Recommended if you want good Russian...
Read moreVery cozy place with such nice atmosphere and familiar food to my taste 😋 tried borshch, vareniki with veshenki (mushrooms) and potato (actually didn’t like them much coz the potato taste was stronger than mushrooms), pelmeni with cream sauce, syrniki (for take away). Actually not bad but I felt smth was missing in pelmeni and vareniki taste. Overall 8/10. I’d say. The bill was 45 azn. The main con for me was the music 👎🏼 I understand traditional music and style of the place but this particular music I found very annoying for cozy...
