Riviera Restaurant — Restaurant in Baku City

Employees are very rude. They charge you what you have not ordered!! I stopped the cashier (boy) several times that i did not order the food that you wish me to pay it. He tried to underestimate me that if you don’t have money don’t come here. So, i haven’t ordered big amount food. I have ordered less amount food. I ate some sweets, some food like durum with chicken and i had drank a cup of tea. In spite of my all costs make in total 5 manats he tried to charge me 9 manats. When i asked him for what price does he charge me?! He said he has charged me “rulet” - this is a food with walnuts on the top of the food. And i said i didn’t order that one. He tried to act like ohhh you don’t have money then why did you come here?! He had shown attitude with his hands, eyes, the body language and his head. Like, ohh man you are very poor you don’t have 9 manats to pay the bill. His attitude was made me disgusting. The tried to feel me guilty that i have no money and i couldn’t pay the bill. So, for him that restaurant is the best and is the most expensive restaurant in the world and nobody has enough money to that bill. Later, he has chard me 2 sweets from 2 manats. But i have ordered 2 sweets from 1 manat. He added additional amount per sweet. He added 1 manat per sweet and he wanted me to pay the bill. I stopped him and i said sorry. I did not order sweets from 2 manats. I have ordered sweets from 1 manat. Then he tried to make changes to the bill. What a stupid boy What a stupid attitude?! What a stupid behavior?! What a stupid calculations?! What a stupid employee?! What a stupid place?! After all of these things, I told him try to calculate my food and sweets properly!! Because, i had also eaten food (durum with chicken.) with 50% discount and the actual price was 5 manats. So, i should pay 2.5 manats after the discount!! The restaurant had a discount offer after 8 pm for some foods but not for all of foods. And, he tried to charge me the food (durum with chicken.) without discount. When i said this food is with discount he act like he didn’t know that it was in discount. He said he was confused that the food wasn’t in discount. He said, he forgot that they have food in discount. According to his knowledge they didn’t have food in discount in that time. So, until my purchasing they should sell all their discount foods. They should not have food in discount. Then i stopped him and i said him the girl (another employee) said that food is in discount. He started to remember, ohhh yes. Ohh yes. It is in discount. I am so much confused. What is this?! What kind of service is this?! What is this?! Very big shame....

Riviera is one of those places my family and I always find ourselves coming back to—usually three or four times a year—and for good reason. Located in a beautiful spot with a stunning view of the city, it offers a setting that’s hard to beat, especially if you’re looking to enjoy a nice meal while soaking in the skyline.

The staff at Riviera are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. The service is consistent, and the atmosphere feels warm and inviting whether you’re there for a casual dinner or a special occasion.

As for the food, while it may not be the absolute best in Baku, it’s definitely very good. I would especially recommend trying their chicken dishes—they’re a standout. The salads are fresh and satisfying as well. Overall, the food quality pairs well with the ambiance, making it a solid dining experience.

Keep in mind that prices are a little above average, but considering the beautiful views and the overall experience, it’s well worth it. If you’re planning to go for dinner, make sure to reserve in advance—without a reservation, finding a spot can be nearly impossible.

Riviera also offers banquet halls, which are great for hosting birthdays or small-scale celebrations. Just like dinner reservations, you’ll need to book ahead for those too. One of the things I love is that they have plenty of different rooms, and during summer, the outdoor seating is a must-try with its amazing atmosphere.

We went there with a group of more than 20 people. That was the worst service during my Baku trip. After everybody had ordered the food they wanted half of the group received their orders but another half waited for more than one hour and 15 minutes, then the waiter came and said that "they couldn't prepare the rest of the order because there are not enough ingredients". And another half which was prepared was accidentally dropped to the floor of the kitchen. And when we asked "why u did not tell us before, and we might order something else instead of waiting more than an hour?", the response was "it is what it is, and it's your problem." We called the supervisor who was rude also and did waiter side instead of apologizing. At the end of the day, the bill came almost double more than we ordered, after complaining that they changed the bill. When they see foreigners they wanna just rob them.
