Upstairs On The Bay — Restaurant in City of Freeport

We have eaten here several times now. The food is really quite excellent, possibly the best we've had on Grand Bahama. The steak was the best we have had in a long time, really top notch. We also love the Conch Fritters. Unlike some places these are not small or bland, they are very flavourful and with generous portions of conch. The burgers are great too. The best part though is the service. They are always right there when you need them, but not hovering over you... the perfect balance. Update: they are service animal...

Great dining experience. This place is old school, and is a locals favorite. You will see many dressed up for "date night" or birthdays or anniversaries. I love the cracked conch but there is so much variety on the menu to choose from you can't go wrong. They don't skimp on the alcohol at the bar, so order something good and strong. Based on the reviews this was a huge disappointment. The first thing the waitress said was they were out of local fish which means that the fish was frozen. The lobster was slimy with an odd flavor, rice was crunchy and the vegetables were cold which means they were also frozen; lobster Mac and cheese had no lobster and the fish and chips were even worse.
