Had high expectations, because Gong cha is also available in my country. But maybe something is lost in the franchising here. The taste is not as good as in Asia, everything was too sweet. For the price you pay and the quality you would expect for the brand, it was disappointing.
Benefit of the doubt, I went on their opening day. Because of that, it was also super chaotic since the store is small. They could have organised themselves better. People waiting for their orders stood in front of the ordering kiosks, so it was confusing whether there was a queue to order.
The wait was long and after your order is ready, an employee walked around asking everybody what their order number was, despite the crowd. In Asia, we typically have an LED at the front which would buzz showing the order number that's ready. Since it's a franchise, it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to have such a system. I mean, the least they can do is lower down the music they were blasting and announce the order numbers that were ready to be picked up.
In short, there are other better bubble tea places in Antwerp. Gong cha unfortunately is close to the bottom of my...
Read moreOverpriced, missing ingredients, confusing ordering and mediocre quality.. Self ordering is convenient but doesn't print receipts so the overhead order number screen is rendered useless. Remembering what you ordered is a must when it's busy. My black milk tea was no different from what I can make in my own kitchen with a basic tea bag, creamer and ice, at a cost of 6+ euro. They charged extra for tapioca pearls but the drinks came without. We had to return and ask where are the pearls - the response was they ran out - why not mention this prior to people ordering or at least when dispensing the drink? The server offered us mango mochi ice creams instead, which did not taste like mochi at all - outside not stretchy and was like the sugary paste found on supermarket ice lollies? Serious issues with quality, value for money and integrity here. This is supposedly a well known brand in Asia but any London bubble tea shop would give this place a run for...
Read moreI got 3 milk tea: Taro milk tea 50% sugar with milk foam, original milk tea, and brown sugar milk tea with tapioca. Taro was good with milk foam but the brown sugar was too sweet and I can't choose how sweet I need like other milk tea. Tapioca was getting better. I still remember from the first day of opening, the tapioca was disappointed me by uncooked, but now it's way better. The tapioca was done cooked! But I still wanna have more strong test of natural milk tea, I need more teste of TEA! It was too milky then in Asia. Hopefully, everyone can try 'Taro vegan' and hopefully, the test of brown sugar milk tea/ original milk tea will have stronger teste like what I used to drink in Asia 🌏. I will always coming back, because I believe that Gongcha will make...
