The Smallest Waffle Shop – A Taste of Antwerp’s Sweet History
Some places aren’t just food stops—they’re living history, woven into the very fabric of a city. The smallest waffle shop in Antwerp, tucked away on a side street, is exactly that. No big signs, no elaborate setup—just pure craftsmanship, tradition, and the best waffles you’ll ever have.
I first had one of these waffles when I was 13 years old, and that taste never left me. The last time I had one? 15 years ago. When I returned, it was as if time had stood still—the same rich, golden-brown waffle, crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. No toppings needed—just simple, perfect indulgence.
The service? Unmatched. I ordered 40 waffles to take home to my kids, who left Belgium 15 years ago but never forgot these waffles. It was rush hour, yet the man behind the counter gave me his word: they would be ready in exactly one hour. And to the minute, they were. No shortcuts, no rush—just the same dedication that has kept this little shop an Antwerp institution.
Not only were they packed perfectly for my journey, but he even took the time to personally instruct me: “Warm them at 150 degrees for 5 minutes.” And he was right—when I got home to South Africa, my kids took one bite, and their faces lit up. The taste of home, unchanged.
Before I left, he insisted I take one for the road—on the house. A small gesture, but one that speaks to the kindness and pride of Antwerp’s people.
If you ever find yourself in Antwerp, seek out this little side street shop, order a waffle, and savor a piece of history. I take mine plain—because when something is already perfect, it needs...
Read moreThis has to be the best waffles I have tasted in Antwerp. I was there pretty late maybe 30 mins before the closing time. I was trying to visit another waffles shop previously but it was closed suddenly on that day so I checked and found this next recommended place to try waffles in Antwerp. I arrived and there was a queue but I still managed to try the plain waffle. It was so good! I was kinda pessimistic as I was afraid I might not get the chance to eat it but was glad and have to say I highly recommend this place. There is another same shop just around the corner which also sells gelato but I checked it out it wasn't opened. By the time I finished the waffle on my hands and I returned back to the shop and I wanted another one with chocolate they told me they had sold out for the day! Mixed feelings of being sad that I didn't have the chance to try another one but was glad I made it to at least try one. Too busy enjoying the waffles that I didn't...

This is my favorite waffleshop in the world (of the 35 countries I have been to so far). Before I got here I had tried all the fancy and touristy waffles with whipped cream and berries, chocolate or both. When I got to the smallest waffle shop I asked the guy what he would recommend I order. He said plain. Well I thought why not and bought a single waffle with it's classic sugar coating and it was perfect. I loved it so much I bought another and even went back another day. In the world of Instafacetok, I can see how the other places become so popular. For quality and simply delicious waffles, come here.
