K. Zeppos — Restaurant in Antwerp

For the owner to know who their employees were at the time happened Sun Dec 29, 2024. There was was a table reserved for 6:30pm. We arrived 5:30 and said we’d be finished within an hour provided the food came quickly enough which it did. The problem started from 6:10pm when one of the young waiters came and asked us to pay the bill as the party had arrived for the 6:30pm reservation. I said we haven’t finished yet and will clear the table before 6:30pm. He came again 5 minutes later wanting us to pay the bill which I did. There was still 15 minutes before 6:30pm. He came again to say the customers have arrived. We had paid the bill and asked him if we could have a drink at the bar. He said the bar was full. There was no room. I asked to speak to the manager. When telling the manager what had happened the young waiter started laughing. The manager had nothing constructive to say to either him nor me. I said this was terrible customer service and not the way to retain customers. There may have been a racial issue here as well. This cafe is full of young rude employees who treat their customers poorly. ...

Dit weekend hier komen eten, maar dat was ook de laatste keer. We namen onze bestelling op ( 3 zeppos burgers & een spaghetti bolognaise). Na enkele minuten kwam de spaghetti te voorschijn, deze zal zeer vers zijn geweest! Na 30 minuten nog geen spoor gezien van onze hamburgers. Om 21u10 komt één van de serveersters zeggen dat de laatste wordt gegeven. Ik begrijp dat je als horeca uitbater geen volk op je terras wilt na 22u om hierdoor boetes te krijgen, maar 21u10 is iets te veel van het goede. We vroegen waar onze hamburgers waren gebleven. We kregen als antwoord dat er geen hamburgerd stonden aangeduid op onze tafel. Ze ging het navragen bij een collega. Vervolgens kwam ze terug en zei ze sorry de keuken liet weten dat de zeppos burgers op waren. Zeer vreemd dat we hier zelf om moesten vragen. Uiteindelijk was de keuken ook al dicht en konden we geen eten meer krijgen. Het leek ook alsof het onze schuld was: "hoezo zeggen jullie dit nu pas?".. Ik denk niet dat dit de gang van zaken is in de horeca. Ik dacht misschien een kleine compensatie, buiten dan alleen een kleine "sorry". Wij zaten inmiddels al meer dan een uur te wachten op ons eten en hadden natuurlijk een reuze honger. Na lang overleggen kwamen ze ineens met 3x spaghetti bolognaise te voorschijn. Deze waren niet eens lekker. Hiervoor hebben we uiteraard voor moeten betalen, geen compensatie niets. Het zal waarschijnlijk onze schuld zijn geweest. Voor de service moet je hier zeker niet komen (oh ja, het eten...

Authentic genuine Antwerpen food! Equipped with a large terrace in the middle if the square, this restaurant is just great, a thousand time better than touristic traps that are closer to the center. Special mention to the beuling, an authentic Belgian dish. Even dishes apparently simple like spaghetti with Bolognese sauce were delicious.
