Beware of the owner who doesn’t care about customers!
We are visiting Brugge. It was around 16.00 and most of the restaurants were closed. We wanted to eat something spicy and decided to try this restaurant which was open on Google.
We walked around 1km from the center to this restaurant, so hungry and expecting to have a good meal. To see it closed. Imagine the disappointment. A note on the window said they will be back at 18.00. On Google, it still said open. We were so frustrated after walking all the way and decided to call the owner.
The owner said they’re usually open at this time and closed only today because he had some car repair (is what I heard). And when I said they should have updated this on Google, he said we should have called the restaurant before visiting. No apology whatsoever. When asked whether he calls the restaurants he visits, he proceeded to tell me he does 😂😂😂. Then he disconnected the call. Customer service at its finest 🤣.
People expect the information on Google to be correct. This is not 1990. This is 2024. People don’t call restaurants, especially tourists don’t. They expect the restaurants in a renowned city to not be medieval (unlike the city).
The lack of apology and the lack of care about their customers made me realize how bad Tibetan hospitality must be. This is the first time we decided to try Tibetan food and look at the response we received.
Then we got caught to a heavy rain as well because of this whole ordeal.
So if you are a tourist in this city you will be better off somewhere else.
Update - if the owner cares so much about ‘safety’ while driving he shouldn’t have answered the call in the first place. Or apologized when we explained the situation.
Also the owner’s driving habits, safe or not, has nothing to do with the restaurant :). So safety being utmost important does not relate to...
Read moreAma Tibetan restaurant in Bruges is a hidden gem that offers an authentic and delightful Tibetan dining experience. Though the dining room is small, it feels intimate and cozy, with warm décor that adds to the charm. The friendly and welcoming staff made our evening even better, offering great recommendations and helping us navigate the menu. Their genuine hospitality really stood out.
The food was simply fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic. We started with the Laphing Classic, a cold noodle dish with a perfect balance of spicy and tangy flavors. The noodles were silky smooth, and the spices really brought out the best in the dish. It was a refreshing and vibrant start to the meal.
Next, we indulged in the Ama Momo, both pork and chicken varieties. These Tibetan dumplings were a highlight—perfectly steamed with a juicy, savory filling. The dough was light, and the accompanying dipping sauce added a great kick.
We also tried the Chicken Chi Zi, a dish full of rich, bold flavors. The chicken was tender, cooked to perfection with an aromatic sauce that had just the right amount of heat. Every bite was a wonderful combination of spices and textures.
Finally, the Beef Shapta was an absolute treat. Tender slices of beef stir-fried with vegetables and seasoned beautifully. The depth of flavor in this dish was incredible—savory with a hint of smokiness, making it a satisfying and hearty end to our meal.
Overall, Ama Tibetan exceeded our expectations. The authenticity of the cuisine, combined with the freshness of the ingredients, made it an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking for a cozy spot in Bruges with excellent food and warm service, this is definitely the...
Read moreWe were in Bruges on holiday and found this restuarant near our hotel room. This restuarant is located few minutes walk from center, ambience is pleasant, simple and clean. We tried the steamed momos which were fresh and delicious, served with chilly oil/ sauce and another condiment which complimented the momos! We also had the popular chilly chicken which I wanted to try as I had read good reviews of online. I was delighted as it tasted authentic and wasnt spicy, so you could add chilly sauce to it as per your preference. It was fresh, chicken and peppers was cooked to perfection! The portion is good and they are priced reasonably! It is a family owned and run business, the family was very warm and friendly and made us feel at home! We concluded our dinner with Karak Chai which was again amazing, and took some samosas to snack on later that night and they tasted so nice even when we had them cold. I would have loved to try all of the food on the menu! We would love to come back to eat here when in Bruges next time. Wishing the...
