Lio's Brugge — Restaurant in Bruges

I can’t actually rate the food, because we never received our order. We tried multiple times to order, but the two servers working the terrace seemed to purposefully avoid us. Other people who came in around the same time were waited on and served before we were even approached. I asked three times if we could order before someone finally came over, at that point it had been 45 minutes. We ordered 4 waters, a beer, two pizzas and two focaccias. Nothing ever arrived. At two different points, other servers came over and asked us to repeat our order because the ticket machine was broken. We repeated and I asked if they could possibly expedite things, but were told no. We were there for an hour and a half and were served nothing. Finally I approached a water and said “I don’t mean to be rude, but can we at least get our waters? It’s been over an hour.” And he snapped at me, said the machine was broken and that he had to serve everyone on the terrace. I just held my hands up, said “okay” and then we left. Wasted an entire afternoon waiting...

Had a table booked for a meal on a Friday night, got there early so had a drink in the bar. It was 8pm and totally empty, we were the only two people in the bar, two groups of people in the restaurant so not remotely busy. We didn’t get our drink for 30 mins, the man had made them and then just left them on the bar for someone else to bring over, despite him not doing anything. When the drink did finally arrive it was half full (a margarita) and was barely drinkable. We decided not to have a meal as the service was super arrogant and felt very lazy. Beautiful bar but no atmosphere whatsoever. They also couldn’t have cared less when we cancelled our reservation. Fabulous experience at Lio’s, from A to Z. Gorgeous atmosphere outside, but inside too! Beautifully decorated and well maintained. Perfect, attentive, friendly service. Meal-wise, we both had the prix fixe lunch menu for 49€, amuse-bouches, appetizer, main course, and dessert. All were perfectly executed and full of flavor. Even the bread was excellent. The fleur de sel and fresh pepper grains were a lovely touch and allowed us to season to taste. My glass of Italian chardonnay was excellent as well and paired nicely with the food. Our espressos were served with some delicious little pastries too. We will definitely come back next time...
