They should put a sign in front of their restaurant “for fast food only”, because this is not a decent Japanese cuisine they are making. Staff are talking loud while we are eating, not very comfortable with that at all. The tea pot is broken in an ugly way and they still use it as they don’t care at all, you should never find this thing happen when a careful business owner should manage his own restaurant. They totally don’t understand what is the spirit of running a Japanese restaurant, that’s really annoying. They tried to put all the Kanji on the menu let it looks like a real Japanese restaurant. However the fact is, food are simple and only meet fast food level, price is not cheap for what you can eat. First time being in Brussel, was passing by the Central Park and saw this restaurant thinking to enjoy a decent Japanese dinner. Totally regret not to see the Google reviews before we eat. I really wish we ate somewhere else, but not here. Period.

We ordered tonkotsu ramen, gyu don and sashimi mix (salmon&tuna). I would definitely recommend the gyu don though I would appreciate it more if they added an onsen egg. Their tonkotsu ramen was average. Coming from Singapore, this ramen is equivalent to an sgd$7 ramen it's a miss for me. As for the sashimi plate, it was thick and tasted decent. However, the radish could have been sliced more thinly and I am puzzled by the slices of lemon on the side. I feel that if the sashimi is fresh enough, you do not need to squeeze the lemon. Lastly and unfortunately, I discovered a fish scale on one of my sashimi which is quite disappointing, considering that the plate costed 15 euros for 8 slices. Overall, the staff are really polite and proactive! I would order the gyu don again and skip the other two.

Very satisfying ramen full of umami. Good kimchi. Friendly service, but can be slow when it is busy. They only take reservations for large groups, and the place fills up, so you may stand in line for a while. Hard walls that reflect all sound, so not a place for a quiet conversation. The vegetarian ramen has less interesting toppings, but surprisingly is more expensive than ramen with meat. When weather permits, outside seating on the Place Jean Rey is possible Update: prices have risen too high too fast. €18 for vegetarian ramen, €9 for a portion of kimchi, it is getting too much

Cooking is just okay but that's about it. The amount of meat they put in there is ridiculously small for Belgium when seeing what they charge. The taste is just barely better than instant ramen. It's very average. Their gyozas are bathed in too much oil. But the problem in that specific place is the service. They have 2 floors with plenty of room but it's quite frequent for them on evenings to just make people wait up 20-30 mins in the entrance (while telling them it's gonna be 15 mins) when they have an entire floor of tables free. They just keep saying they're not going to open the upper floor when they do have 3 to 4 waiters in the restaurant. I've seen 15+ people waiting at the entrance when the restaurant is half full just because for some reason (is it laziness?) they don't want to open the first floor. They keep apologizing and losing time telling all the people entering that they won't serve them while all that time apologizing/explaining would be spent well .. serving them. And I also think they could offer a drink (even a soft one) for giving bad estimates to customers waiting. I see no problem with lines and waiting when a place is just full. I do see an issue with this when the place is half full and seems staffed sufficiently....

AVOID THIS IF YOU ARE DINING ALONE - THEY WILL TREAT YOU LIKE RUBBISH! What an unpleasant insulting experience! I had been to this place with a male colleague earlier in the week and had an OK experience.Kokuban Place Jean Rey is near my hotel so I went there late and they said I could still get food. They indicated I should sit at the bar to eat but as the place was almost empty and there would not be others arriving as the kitchen was closing soon, I said I would prefer one of the tables. "Oh no Madame! That is a table for four!" "Yes, I know but the place is empty and about to close". "No you can't sit there, the manager told us". "Where is the manager" "not here". "Why can't I sit there? The restaurant is empty? You mean you will turn away a customer because you want me to sit at the bar to eat?" "Yes, it's the rule". Wow! Some people have really forgotten who is doing the buying and doing the selling! And what a way to treat a...
