Disappointing experience for such an up-market restaurant. Especially since the one in st Gilles was so good, we expected more. 4 of us went on a Sunday lunchtime at 2, we had booked via Tablebooker. But they never asked us for our reservation name, and only gave us a veranda table when we insisted. Luckily there was one available, but I'm doubting if their reservation sytem actually works at all.
Location and decor is beautiful.
Service was fast enough. But the waiter got confused when we only ordered 3 portions of 'sides' to share (normal chips, sweet potato chips and vegetables). 2 of us ordered ribs, 1 of us a ribeye and 1 of us a steak, plus 2 mushroom sauces. The orders arrived in about 15 mins. They forgot the sweet potato chips, bringing normal chips instead. We asked to change one of the chips for sweet potatoes as ordered, but this never materialised. My son received pepper sauce instead of mushroom.
My ribs were lovely, succulent meat falling of the bones. On the contrary, my daughter (who ordered the same) her ribs were tough and impossible to get off the bone. We complained and asked them to change it, bringing sweet potatoes too. After 10 minutes, a new ribs arrived, again with normal chips! This time the ribs were fine. And after insisting for a fourth time, we got our sweet potato chips.
When we came to pay, we gave them our table number and expected the system to churn out the bill. But no, we had to repeat what we ordered and he put it into the system. The total was above what we expected, and we didnt receive a printed overview to check so we paid, thinking that we must have miscalculated on drinks and sauces, and then got the printed receipt . At this point we checked the bill. They had overcharged us fo drinks we didn't order, charged for extra chips and sauces. As we were waiting for somebody to handle our refund, other people arrived to complain about overcharging.
After being open already several months, they really should have sorted out any teething problems. Their staff should be trained better with a system that works to take orders and a reliable cash desk. I'm not sure if they purposely made mistakes with serving and overcharged hoping we wouldn't notice and that the management just doesn't care, or whether it's just chaotic and they haven't found their rhythm yet. In any case, you don't expect this level of service from such an expensive restaurant. Will not be going back to this one despite the lovely setting...
Read moreMy wife and I were looking to spend our anniversary in a chic place, to savour the hammer, we called to book a table, but they said we don’t do booking, you’re welcome to just come and we will give you a table, well, they didn’t tell us about the queue outside, and then about the musical chairs on the sofa inside, while the place looked fabulous we felt at that moment that we were not being treated at the level we were expecting.
When we were seated, there was a clear smell coming of the table, the kind of smell that you can find on a damp towel that was forgotten in a bucket, or that was just not clean, not sure which Is the worst actually.
We spent 25 minutes for our order to be taken, and two waiters telling us that our order will be taken soon, overhearing the waiter tell the people on our side the same thing, joking about how he don’t want to work today, the final straw was when I looked around and saw the waiter taking the order of table that was seated after us, we took our jackets and left, only for the waiter to hurry and catch and say that he has too much work and he is alone, what an excuse.
So, if you’re looking for a classy place to spend an important evening, this is not it, partly because of my experience above, partly because the people in this place are too loud, partly because the people on the table next were watching videos at full volume, partly because in less than 30 minutes we heard the happy...
Read moreNevermind the beautiful space. If you are a meatlover you will probably be disappointed. At first I was pleasantly surprised they served brisket here. Halal brisket! The disappointment was huge. Not only did it come without any sauce but it was bone dry (check the pic). I have never in my life seen such a dry piece of meat sold at 24eu (nothing else with it) at a place that pretends to be high end. I had asked for mashed potatoes as well which was served with so much garlic in it it actually made me gag. Why not call it 'garlic mashed potatoed' then? Is it that hard? Not a single meatsauce except for the usual mayo based sauces at a steakhouse is shocking. You wonder what they do with all the succulent meat juices. My friend hasd ordered a well done steak, yes some people don't like raw meat, and she got hers so raw the steak could have walked away. The other person I was with ordered the wagyu beef carpaccio and got what probably was regular beef. When asked about it, the waiter said it's probably wagyu. Sure. As if you can't see the difference?! Finally another of my friends was served the thinnest slice of beef and they pretended it was pure filet which it clearly was not. She was later served a COLD fondant au chocolat. TWICE. We were a group of 10 and spent close to 600eu. There was no apology, no warmth, just a business transaction. Avoid at all cost....
