An Unacceptable Disregard for Professional Standards and Quality As an individual committed to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, I am compelled to document a highly unsatisfactory experience at Le Funambule, located adjacent to the Manneken Pis in Brussels. The conduct exhibited by the staff was not merely unprofessional but constituted a serious breach of basic customer service etiquette. The intrusive and inappropriate line of questioning regarding my background was not only unfounded but indicative of a profound lack of cultural competence and sensitivity. Such behavior is particularly egregious given the international prominence of Brussels as a diplomatic hub. It raises concerns about the establishment’s ability to operate with the requisite decorum and respect for its diverse clientele. Moreover, the quality of the waffle served was unacceptable. The product was clearly reheated and presented in a state that could only be described as inedible, with a texture akin to a rock. This falls far below the standards one would expect in a city renowned for its culinary heritage, and reflects poorly on the establishment’s commitment to maintaining any semblance of quality control. The combination of inadequate service and substandard product not only undermines the establishment’s reputation but also potentially exposes it to legal scrutiny for failing to meet basic consumer expectations. I strongly advise potential patrons to exercise caution and consider more reputable establishments that uphold the high standards associated with Brussels. It is imperative that the management of Le Funambule address these critical issues with immediate effect to rectify the severe deficiencies in both service and product quality. Failure to do so will likely result in further reputational damage and continued dissatisfaction among patrons.

If you're looking for an amazing waffle experience in Brussels, look no further than the waffle store near Manneken Pis. This store serves up some of the best waffles in the city with a wide variety of options to choose from. The menu is extensive and offers both sweet and savory waffle options. You can indulge in the classic Belgian waffle, topped with fresh fruits and whipped cream or try something more savory like a waffle sandwich with ham and cheese. They also offer gluten-free and vegan options for those with dietary restrictions. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. you can either enjoy your waffles at the store or take them to go. Plus, the location is perfect – just a stone's throw away from Manneken Pis. All in all, this waffle store is a must-visit for anyone looking for an indulgent and delicious waffle experience in Brussels. With a fantastic range of options and friendly staff

Note: the address is actually Rue de l'Etuve 42, literally right around the corner from the "peeing boy" fountain, which seemed REALLY popular to take pictures of. Don't get fooled thinking that the crowd is the line for this tiny little place. Just walk around the corner and look for the shop with its own miniature peeing boy statue and a €1 sign. This was my favorite waffle. It had the right amount of crunchy and soft bready texture (I'm partial to just a slight bit more crunchy without it being too sweet). If you want it plain (which is delicious!), it's only €1 a piece. Toppings are extra, but honestly, I think the toppings hide the texture, which defeats the purpose. Get a regular Brussels waffle if your want to put a ton of stuff on it. Get a plain Liege waffle from these guys if you want to really enjoy the waffle itself.

Extremely disappointing and unacceptable!

We visited this establishment expecting a simple, freshly made waffle. Upon arrival, we noticed several waffles already sitting out and asked if ours would be made fresh. The two girls working assured us it would be. When we questioned the visibly old waffles on display, we were told, quite unbelievably, that they were "for decoration for the next day"—a clear and insulting lie.

Despite their promise, we were served an extremely hard, burnt, and stale waffle. When we calmly and respectfully asked for a replacement, the two employees not only refused but pretended not to understand us, then proceeded to insult us in French before ignoring us entirely.

To add insult to injury, they attempted to convince us that what we had received was freshly made. This level of dishonesty and disrespect is appalling. We ended up throwing the waffles away—they were inedible. A complete waste of 10 euros and, more importantly, an infuriating experience.

I strongly advise others to avoid this place. The food is substandard, and the staff’s behavior is utterly unprofessional and...
