Brussels' Town Hall is an impressive landmark in the most renowned area of the city. Built in the 15th century, it’s now listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Drawn in by its impressive exterior, my friends and I recently explored this iconic landmark.

The interior of the Hôtel de Ville is simply breathtaking. The gothic woodworks and countless paintings are like a travel through time, back to the late XIX century when the last renovations were concluded. The most eye-catching part are definitely the tapestries, picturing the most important events of Belgium’s history. These are truly more than just adornments, but a testimony of Brussels' rich history.

When visiting the place, having a tour guide is mandatory. This might be off-putting to some, but our lovely tour guide Johann made our experience more enjoyable, than if we were just reading about this building off of Wikipedia. He talked about each of the rooms we have visited in great detail and answered all our questions diligently. He provided us with the historical context necessary to fully understand the whereabouts of this magnificent building.

If there is one negative thing I can say about this place it’s that the tour is simply too short. As pointed out by our guide, ever since the old offices of the aldermen became open to the public, one hour is simply not enough time to properly experience the entire place. Hopefully in the future the duration of the tour will be extended.

Overall, Hôtel de Ville de Bruxelles is definitely the place to visit if you’re curious about the city's history and are eager to see some beautiful artworks. If I ever have a chance, I’d love to visit it again...

Historical Significance: The Town Hall has been the seat of municipal power in Brussels for centuries. It has witnessed numerous historical events and served as a backdrop for important civic ceremonies.

Interior: The interior is equally impressive, featuring grand halls with opulent decorations, tapestries, and artworks. The Gothic architecture continues inside, with vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows adding to the grandeur.

The Brussels Town Hall is not only a functional building but also a symbol of the city's rich history and architectural heritage. It attracts visitors from around the world who come to admire its beauty and learn...

📍Where to stay in Brussels🇧🇪 This is not a sponsored btw, though I’d gladly accept a cheque for all the free info🤓😅. Anyway, it wouldn’t be fitting if I didn’t give my two cents about which part of the city to stay to get the most out of your trip. Brussels is a pretty compact city with a wide selection of major tourist attractions and accommodations located within a short distance of the city centre. It’s also very easy to get around, meaning you can see it all if you plan well. Many different areas of the city offer attractive and comfortable accommodation, so there’s something suitable for everyone based on preference and of course your travel budget. 1. City Centre : split into the Upper Town (Haut de la Ville) and Lower Town (Bas de la Ville), Brussels' historic center is the best area to stay if you want to be at the heart of all the action. Places of interest : Town's Grand Place (Grote Markt), the Town Hall and Guild Houses, the Manneken Pis and Saint-Michel Cathedral, the city's best restaurants and plenty of shopping. 2. Sablon: an elegant neighborhood known for its picturesque Gothic architecture, Brussels' fine chocolatiers and many antique shops. 3. Avenue Louise: upscale area with luxury shops and fine dining 4. Ixelles: one of the most diversified international neighborhoods and best areas to stay in Brussels 5. European Quarter: an international neighborhood home to several beautiful parks, including Parc Leopold and the Parc de Cinquantenaire. 6. Saint Gilles: a popular and residential neighborhood noted for its Art Nouveau architecture and Indie art galleries. 7. Gare du Midi: easily accessible and offers reasonably priced accommodation. 8. Saint-Joose-ten-Noode: a multicultural area close to downtown and the most densely populated. 9. Brussels Expo: best area to stay in Brussels for expo visitors and well-known for the Atomium So where’d we stayed? The iconic Radisson Collection Grand Place Brussels located in the heart of the city. It is famed for its distinctive post-modernist architecture and its glass-crowned, 7-story atrium and in-house restaurant Eneko Basque. Save for later, you’re welcome 😉😊
