We wanted some fine pasta in Brussels, and showed up without reservations. We were greeted and told that they couldn’t accommodate the two of us.. but he’d go check.
Next thing you know, we’ve squeezed into a table for 2 next to a window overlooking the nice little square outside and the owner is telling us, (he seems to speak every language fluently) with maximum charm, about how his wife makes the noodles and he went over the description of all the selections possible on the menu. Various noodles and sauces and presentations, with a lot of combinations. But we ordered what everyone else had on their plates.
We went with the black pasta (the pasta is made with squid ink, not the sauce- it won’t make things black in your mouth) with red prawns (she hand peels them each day) and then some noodles that contain spinach and are topped with a more antique and rustic sauce of the kind that existed prior to the tomato arriving on the Italian menu.
He took the order right away, using a smart phone. The meal came out fairly swiftly.
The food was a knock out, and my spouse is still telling everyone about it a week later. So. Good.
We should have ordered antipasta, because the dinner pasta portions were very ideal- not overwhelming and leaving you wishing for one more bite when you’re done. It left us with room for waffles.
Fun fact- when you’re done, head downstairs and close your tab. The woman handling that duty is the daughter of the owners and we shared some fun tales of Italy and you could tell she had a lot of pride in what her family...

Read moreDespite some reviews, this place absolutely does make their own pasta! No doubt about it! However they also offer dried penne and spaghetti (offered from a separate page on the menu) so ask if you aren't sure and want the fresh made pasta!! The fresh made is the way to go for sure!!
Next, now that you know it's fresh made daily, how can you resist the Italian owner coming to your table and personally explaining each dish with Love?
And then the way they cook the pasta perfectly and delicately al dente...
And how it comes to your table with hardly any wait at all...
And how the sauces are Devine! If they have the mushroom pasta special please do yourself a favor and order that! I don't even like mushrooms but this dish was heavenly. At least 3 different mushrooms and thinly sliced ham make this dish so so delicious!
UHM... What else? Oh the price! One of our most reasonably priced dinners in Europe. €40 for two dinners with drinks. Note bad!
And then it's nearly on the Gran Place so there's the people watching.
Just make sure to get a reservation (Same day or one day in advance is all we needed) and try not to sit next to people who take turns smoking cigarettes. It really interferes with the pleasure of the dinner.
Thank you Divina! We will be...
