I will never forget that incredible feeling when dozens of people you don't know sing happy birthday and applaud. Such sincere congratulations from the The Blue restaurant team, who even found candles for me to make a wish, will remain in my memory forever. Such a cozy atmosphere, where on a cool autumn evening you are warmed by delicious food cooked with love, which melts and dissolves when you taste it, hot tea with a piece of delicate cinnamon-scented charlotte (the perfect connection to the autumn vibe). Wrapped in a warm blanket, you enjoy the lively noise of people passing by.You smile when you see waiters diligently running between tables to fulfill all the customers' wishes. And you're a little shy to ask them for any additional service, because they already have enough capricious customers during the day, but they fly to you with a gentle smile to fulfill your wishes. I have visited many restaurants, bars, and cafes, but I have not experienced such a welcome and so much sincerity, kindness, and warmth for a long time. All of this inspired me to write this post. A post of gratitude and love. Because this is love. This is a place that I will recommend to friends, acquaintances and everyone I know, because just to taste the dishes prepared so professionally and with love, it's worth it. And we will definitely come back here again. It is after such evenings that inspiration comes, because your life is filled with wonderful feelings.

Buckle up, fellow foodies and travelers, because this restaurant review is going to be a wild ride! Last Friday evening, my friends and I decided to try out a restaurant that had been getting rave reviews on Google Maps. With high expectations and growling stomachs, we eagerly entered the establishment, only to be met with a series of disappointing surprises. First up, the toilet. Oh, the horror! As a self-proclaimed germaphobe, I couldn't believe my eyes. The toilet was not just unclean, but downright unhygienic. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, and the smell was enough to make my nose hairs curl. Needless to say, that was not a promising start to our dining experience. As we sat down at our table, we couldn't help but notice that the staff was also lacking in the hygiene department. Not only did the chef touch money with their cooking gloves, but we also caught some of the waitstaff smoking in front of the restaurant. And to top it off, one of the servers was wiping sweat off their brow with their bare hand before handling our plates. Yikes! We decided to order some French fries, but unfortunately, they were a letdown. They were neither delicious nor salted, and seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long. The disappointment continued as we perused the menu and realized that the prices for both the food and drinks were exorbitantly high. It felt like we were paying for the location rather than the quality of the food. At this point, we were scratching our heads in confusion. How could this place have such good reviews on Google? Were we missing something? The only redeeming factor was the meat, specifically the goulash. It was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It was the saving grace of an otherwise lackluster meal. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. While the goulash was a standout dish, the unhygienic toilet, staff's lack of hygiene, subpar French fries, and steep prices left us feeling disappointed. Despite the positive reviews on Google Maps, we couldn't overlook these flaws, and we left with a sense of regret. With a heavy heart, I have to give this restaurant a 2 out of 5 stars. My advice to fellow travelers? Proceed with caution and lower your expectations, or better yet, explore other dining options in the city that offer a more satisfying experience for your taste buds and wallet. Bon appétit!

EDIT: In response to the owner - no, I am just just trying to harm your business. The Flemish stew was awful. If I told the server it was inedible, would I have gotten another dish replacement for free? I barely was able to eat the stew and had to gulp down my beer to even swallow the stringy, tough, disgusting beef. Maybe it was overcooked because the chef was chatting it up with some customers who came in? Either way, I am warning other customers not to order this 20 Euro, disgusting beef stew. They can order mussels or other dishes, but not this beef stew. Unless you want me to pay for me to fly back to Brussels to try the beef stew again and redo my review, I keep this at 2 stars. DON’T order the Flemish Carbonade or Flemish stew or whatever it is. It was absolutely awful and difficult to eat. The beef was SEVERELY OVERCOOKED, stringy, and salty. I had to wash it down with their beer. My fiancé enjoyed her mini portion of mussels made classic style, which was yummy and fairly priced. But the Flemish Carbonade for 20 Euros was a huge ripoff. The fries that came with my Flemish stew were undercooked so the potato inside was mushy while the outside was fried and slightly crispy. They do have cool beers that come in the original glasses, which we saw on the menu and ordered. Service was fast, but again, don’t order the beef stew.

I went there twice. The first time, I ordered Flemish carbonade. Some pieces of beef were really tender, while others were not, but overall it was okay. The second time, I tried the meatballs with pasta. The pasta was confirmed by staff to be microwaved, and it tasted dry despite the manager claiming it was freshly made every day. The meatballs also seemed to be microwaved, based on the taste and the appearance in the photo. The oil was separated and floating on the surface, which is a sign of microwaving. If cooked properly, the oil should blend with the sauce. The oil came from the meatballs due to the microwaving. I haven't tried other dishes, but if they use a microwave, I could just go to Carrefour and microwave food by myself. Based on my experience, the food is overrated, and my opinion is 100% objective. In conclusion, the staff service was good, but the food was disappointing.

I and my friends ordered two pots of mussels and other types of food e.g. sirloin steak, beef stew, calamaries etc as we’d like to try the Belgium taste. However the mussels were not fresh and some had a bad smell. Also the beef stew was much salty and the frites were too stiff and too well cooked. PS. I just had a time reading the reply from the owner of the restaurant and it made me quite surprised with the way he tackled complaints from customers. I’m a tourist and I visited your restaurant really! I just posted a review based on my direct experience and I was doing that by not trying to exaggerate things. If you asked me what’s the best thing I received from the visit at your restau, it’d be a service and the coca cola that made us fresh from being weary from long walk around the city. Have a great day sir!
