tl;dr classics are classic for a reason. the potato was to die for, and the lamb & sauce incredible. martini on point too.

Amazing find in the middle of Brussels with a local feel & good attention to detail on food, service, and atmosphere. The lamb & portions amazing, as was the lobster bisque and the espresso martini.

The restaurant is warm & cozy inside, with an intimate and modern feeling that puts the focus on the food & conversation in front of you. We’re here for the meal and company, that in of itself is the ultimate show.

Service was also amazing, considerate & understanding. While a typical Belgian pre-summer takes most diners indoors, I had some work calls coming in and asked to sit outdoors even if a bit cooler & risk of rain so I wouldn’t upset other customers, and the staff were kind & accommodating with that request.

My only concern, and I think this is more me, the crème brûlée is meant to be shared and is a bit much for one. It could also be a little bit more firm but this may be down to my tastes/opinions. Plenty of vanilla bean, good firm crunch on the top, taste was on point, and if i had my partner dining with me, then we certainly would have devoured it whole. Suggestion - call out on the menu if it’s meant to be shared, then a patron can make the call or try many of the other delectable desserts you had on offer.

Would certainly eat here again, looking forward to both new twists on the classics, with Lola putting their...

Lola: A Brussels Gem Worth Savouring

Nestled in the heart of Brussels' charming Sablon district, Lola is a contemporary brasserie that effortlessly blends classic elegance with modern flair. From the moment you step through its doors, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of refined sophistication.

The menu is a delightful journey through seasonal flavours, showcasing the best of local and international ingredients. The fillet of Simmental beef was delicious (as you would expect), but the Morell sauce was outstanding, elevating the dish to new heights. Each bite was a symphony of textures and tastes, a testament to the chef's culinary prowess.

For dessert, the apple tart tatin was simply divine—the best I have ever tasted. The caramelised apples were perfectly balanced, the pastry was flaky and buttery, and the vanilla ice cream and caramel complemented perfectly.

The service at Lola is impeccable and attentive without being intrusive. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to guide you through the menu and wine list, ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Whether celebrating a special occasion or seeking a delightful evening out, Lola is the perfect choice. Its stylish ambience, exceptional cuisine, and impeccable service make it a gem in the Brussels...

We stumbled upon Lola in 2023 as a family of 4, and it turned into one of the most unforgettable dining experiences we’ve ever had. After a long day of walking and exploring the beautiful city of Brussels, we walked in without a reservation ~ something we later realized was incredibly lucky, as this restaurant has been a true staple in the city since 1994.

From the moment we sat down, the service was impeccable: attentive and welcoming, yet never overbearing. The menu offered classic brasserie fare, but every dish had a refined and memorable touch. I opted for the lobster ravioli and an extraordinary sweetbread vol-au-vent, which was both unique and perfectly executed. My husband and son enjoyed the most incredible bone-in chicken breast, while my other son had a seared tuna dish ~ so exquisite it instantly ranked among his favorites of the trip.

And then came dessert ~ the perfect finale to an already flawless meal.

As a family that travels the world in search of exceptional food, we were blown away. Lola not only exceeded expectations but firmly cemented itself in our minds as one of the best dining experiences in Europe. Although it is recognized in the Michelin Guide, in our opinion, it absolutely deserves a Michelin star.

We can’t wait to...

My starter (ravioli of boudin noir with spring truffle) sounded promising but was quite flat in flavour. I wouldn't say 'bad' but rather boring and dissapointing in flavour. None-the-less, you could see that it came from a high class kitchen: good technique and ingredients. Main dish (poeltry with dragon sauce and french fries) was really good. Nothing to add, definitely recommended! As dessert, I went for the mouilleux au chocolat (chocolate lava cake) with vanilla ice cream which genuinely changed my perception on what the perfect mouilleux should be like. This was the best mouilleux I ever had! And without exaggeration: I have tried this dessert in more than a 100 different places. I am writing this review several hours after my dinner and I still dream away when thinking back about the flavours and textures of this dessert. The service was extremely polite, attentive and well informed. If it wasn't for the 'average' starter, I would have given this place a solid 5 star rating. And I can easily imagine Lola can/will offer a 5star worthy experience on my next visit.
