After a long 24 hour journey, I was truly looking forward to my very first breakfast in Belgium. I chose your café because the menu offered shakshuka a dish I’ve always enjoyed when made with care. I ordered it along with green tea, imagining it would be the perfect start to my morning.
What I received, however, was not quite what I expected. The shakshuka tasted plain, the eggs felt as though they had been boiled separately rather than cooked in the sauce, and the green tea had almost no flavour at all. I mention this not to criticise harshly, but because I know how much small details can matter in hospitality.
I also understand that outside food may not be allowed, though I had a valid reason for having my own croissant. If this was a concern, I would have greatly appreciated a kind word from the staff to let me know, kindly inform me. Instead, the repeated rude stares and quiet wispers gossiping left me feeling a little unwelcome and that was disheartening, especially on my very first morning in your beautiful country.
I believe your café has the ability to create wonderful first impressions for travellers. A touch more warmth in communication and a little extra attention to the food’s preparation could make all the difference. I hope my feedback helps in that direction.
This keeps you kind, calm, and classy while still pointing out exactly what went wrong the kind of review that makes them feel they’ve let...
Read moreThe food is AMAZING and the concept is surely great. However, the service from one specific waitress really ruined my morning appetite and my first experience with Frank - Stephanie. I entered the restaurant through the door from Citybox Hotel and was greeted with ‘We are not a part of the hotel, just so you know so you will have to pay with a tone that wasn’t customer friendly at all’ and if I wanted to do a take away or dining in order. I was really confused. No good morning, no hello, no warm welcoming? Saying it so loud in front of other customers that it nearly made me feel belittled like I am not worth sitting in your beautiful restaurant.
Beside this, during my order with her, I wanted to order a side dish as an add on to my meal. She replied with: you know that you have to pay extra for that? Of course, I know that. Your menu is beautifully designed, very clear and simple.. I really didn’t have a comfortable time at all.
If I read the comments, I can understand that this is not new behavior from the waitress with the black framed glasses. Truly love the concept and the food is great, but please do something about this staff’s behavior!
I still invite and encourage everyone to go and try this spot. The drinks and food selections are really great!
Just avoid that lady in the restaurant and get somebody else to assist you if you want to have...
