We had a wonderful lunch at De Casserole during our visit to Ghent.
Chef Yves made us feel very welcome and prepared a delicious meal. The asparagus soup was warm, refreshing, & seasoned thoughtfully. It helped warm us up from the chill wind that had kicked up during our walk. My girlfriend’s seafood dish was luxurious, light, & full of vegetables. I had the house specialty stew and it was absolutely wonderful. The flavor was complex and deep. I was told it was cooked in a special beer which I ordered to drink along with the stew (which was as good as you woukd imagine). We wrapped up with a house made tarte tatin frangipane which was exquisite. I wish I was eating it again right now.

We received a very warm welcome by the very friendly owner Yves and we straight way felt like home. We had such a wonderful delicious full course meal, from warm bread with butter as starters, homemade soup, main course salmon and desserts. The meal was really perfectly prepared by Yves himself. Read moreMy mum and I were visiting Ghent for a few hours and found De Casserolle by chance. Yves welcomed us in and treated us like family, despite us being unable to speak Flemish. The food was out of this world. The simple but very tasty broccoli soup with warm lavash bread was great, but there was more to come... The main speciality was the freshly caught Ray's wing, which was sublime. Again simply prepared but was unbelievably delicious. Yves is the perfect host and De Casserolle only seats 16 but is somewhere every person must visit once in their lives, foodie or not....
