I was here ordering last May 3 because I saw no one was in the line. I used to buy here before and I know the service is fairly quick even during busy times. But on this day, there were 3 people, one woman who was the only one making the orders, a guy writing things on his notebook and a blonde lady who they were talking with. I waited but the only person who was preparing the orders was very slow and worst she kept talking to the other two people and even stopping what she was doing even though she knows I was there waiting. I work in this kind of industry and we are never allowed to do this especially if there are customers waiting. I guess it is normal for them to do it here considering the two other people who were present seems to be her bosses. I asked the guy since he was done writing anyway to help me with my order because I told him Iwas just on my break, but he just said the slow girl will do it. I won't ask him if I had still a lot of time but I waited already long and it was still not my turn and mind you only one guy was ordering before I went in. What I don't understand is that they don't even help even though the client already ask for it so I just went away because I don't want to waste more time and not be able to eat before work even though I paid for it. I also observed that the one who was preparing the food touches the food with her hand and then she wiped it on her t-shirt after which is a gross practice. Never again after this...
Read moreI always eat at Poke Bowl in BE and it's great, except when they forget to include an ingredient or get it wrong and try to cover it up. I'm understanding cuz I've worked in restaurants/salad bars as a student so I know how it gets. But today I place my order and I receive spring onions I didn't select. I told the lady it's not what I ordered and she gave me one hummm waiting for me to say it's okay, I'll eat it. I'm sorry, I can't, I don't like them. I say nothing so she takes the bowl and comes back with some of them removed and some more sauce on top. If I was allergic to an ingredient this wouldn't have went well so the team that was on shift needs to take it seriously and not play with people's food. Allergic or not, people pay for the bowl cuz they are hungry so you can't really be shocked when they ask you to return something they didn't order. I was disappointed today overall, by the half empty big bowl my husband received, the Nacho crumbs instead of pieces, the eye roll? when we placed the order, the attitude of not caring, and the mochi that has went bad. And to think that I was thinking about this meal my whole...
Read moreJust had another amazing lunch at Hawaiian Poke Bowl in Ghent - honestly, this place never disappoints! The vibe is super chill, and I love watching them build my bowl right in front of me. They don't skimp on the fish either - the salmon is always melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and they're pretty generous with the portions.
My go-to order is the salmon poke with brown rice (trying to be healthy!), topped with edamame, mango, crispy onions, and their spicy mayo. The contrast between the creamy fish, sweet mango, and crunchy toppings is just chef's kiss. At around €15, it's not the cheapest lunch in town, but you definitely get what you pay for.
Pro tip: If you go after 2 PM, you'll dodge the lunch rush and won't have to wait in line. The staff is always friendly, even when it's super busy. Also, their mango bubble tea is a must-try!
Only tiny downside is that seating can be tricky during peak hours, but most people take their bowls to go anyway. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Ghent and craving something fresh and...
