I have been a regular customer of Horn-OK-Please and have enjoyed their food in the past, but my recent experience left me quite disappointed. I ordered a biryani and a dosa, both of which I've had before, but this time, the quality and quantity were far below the usual standard.
Firstly, the portion sizes were significantly smaller than what I’ve received before—almost half the size in some cases. It seemed like the restaurant was about to close, and I got the last remnants of whatever was left. The dosa was particularly disappointing—it was much smaller and not as well-made as it usually is. The biryani, on the other hand, had an overwhelming amount of cardamoms, which made it almost inedible. It felt like they just threw in whatever was left, without any consideration for quality.
I paid a good amount for this meal, and I expect consistent quality regardless of the time of day. This inconsistency is not acceptable, especially when customers are paying a premium. I reached out to Uber about this issue but haven't received a response, so I'm sharing my experience here.
I'm giving three stars because I've had good experiences in the past, but I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and ensures that their quality doesn't drop, especially towards closing time. Customers deserve better, and I hope this was just a one-time issue. I wish the restaurant the best and hope that the in-dining experience is...
Read moreSuch an amazing place! We were visiting Ghent and wanted to try out Indian places and found this very close to our hotel. The place is tiny but, Oh man!, it is so good!
We reached there without reservation with a small dog. Since we were there without a reservation, we had to wait a bit - about 5-10 minutes, in which we looked at the menu.
We found the customer service to be EXCELLENT - one of the best customer service anywhere.
I started with the cocktail mango lassi with rum. It was a revelation - so delicious.
The food that you get there is authentic - some of it even tastes like homemade food from India. One of the dishes we ordered was Chloe Bhature. After finishing bhature, I still had some choke left, so I asked whether I could get some rice to finish it off and Vishant (the owner) gave it to us free of charge. The dish was delicious - although not entirely authentic, but the owner Vishant was so cordial and so receptive to feedback.
After having eaten dinner once, we also went there for lunch another day. We liked everything we ate there. What they sometimes miss in taste, they make up for in customer service.
Other dishes we ordered were : Chicken biryani, masala dosa, paneer butter masala with paratha, cobra ka dabra (cocktail).
I would go there again when I am back in Ghent. I am excited to see how this restaurant and Vishant...
Read moreA year ago I gave this place 5 stars, easy. First time I was blown away, as so with the following times. Amazing dishes, quite an exclusive menu in Gent.
About 6 months ago we had a take away order that was fiercely disappointing. The portions were way smaller than usual, for example the butter panneer had only 5-6 pieces panneer as was the portion of the Gobi machurian. This last one normally is my ABSOLUTE favourite, yet that time I really didn't like it.. the batter layer was very thick and not crispy at all. The coconut chutney was lacking flavour and the flavours overal were less on point than i'm used to when I had your lovely food.. I know you were searching for a new chef back then, so maybe it's just that and he/she/they needed some time which is fine.
Recently we decided to give 'Horn Ok Please' another chance. Again, the (same) dishes were disappointing. The seasoning was not balanced, very spicy with little other flavour or on the other hand just bland, Gobi not crispy and not the awesome flavours it had a year ago.. I actually like it when fresh made meals taste slightly different every time, but the quality should be less...
