Perched by the river, Manhattan Burgers enjoys a location most restaurateurs would trade their flat grills for. There’s something inherently comforting about eating a burger while the water glides by — and here, the ambience doesn’t just set the stage; it enhances the performance. The staff deserve a standing ovation. Attentive, warm, and effortlessly helpful, they manage to strike that elusive balance: present when needed, invisible when not. It’s the kind of service that gently lifts a casual meal into something more memorable. As for the food — let’s be clear: Manhattan Burgers doesn’t trade in gimmicks. They offer a small but confident menu, and what they do, they do exceptionally well. The burgers are, in a word, fantastic. Rich, indulgent, and packed with character. You come here for a good burger, and you get one. But even stars have their cloudy nights. I’ve long held a soft spot for the Harlem Chicken Burger. Three years ago, it was one of the best I’d had — a perfect union of crunch, spice, and comfort. So naturally, I returned with anticipation. And while it still bore the name and most of the form, something had shifted. The chicken was just slightly undercooked — not worryingly so, but enough to register. That delightful crispiness had softened, and with it, a little of the magic slipped away. Is that enough to discredit the place? Not at all. There’s still plenty to admire — from the river view to the service to the reliably solid menu. But it does raise a quiet question: Is the consistency slipping? Manhattan Burgers remains one of the better spots for a satisfying bite in a picturesque setting. Let’s just hope that next time, the Harlem Chicken Burger remembers who it used to be.

We had two amazing burgers, and we want to thank the chef for making them so incredibly tasty! We honestly felt like we could eat three more because they were that delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back again

First note: They have kept the toilets from the Belga Queen restaurant that came before, so you will still get the same toilet door experience that existed then, which is cool. Second note: This may be a burger chain, but they make very good, tasty burgers. The range is limited, but includes varieties of beef burger, chicken burger and a vegetarian option. They also have a couple of very interesting salads (chicken and vegetarian) and the fries are Belgian good. The burger styles contain flavour options from different types of cheese (Tomme de Savoie, Cheddar, Emmental) and a number of different sauces and toppings. Service is friendly and quick with a smile (but it has to be said that we ate there mid-week in the middle of September, so very hard to know what it's like when the burgery is packed). Overall, this is one of the better burger places you can eat at. The partial view of the Graslei-Korenlei is also nice to have. *** Third note: One important thing to be noted is that this is a mostly cashless, card only, establishment. I believe you can pay by cash (at the time of writing in 2019) only if you have the exact money or don't care about receiving change. This appears to be a modern trend. This does make things more pricey for a tourist when taking in the extra costs that come with international card usage. Due to this, I debated removing a star. It is most inconvenient if one is not local or a holder of a Eurozone bank account.

Location: Manhattn's Burgers is situated in a beautiful location by the Leie River, housed in a stunning historical stone building. The restaurant offers a large outdoor seating area with a terrace where you can enjoy the scenic view and the city's atmosphere. The interior is spacious, with seating available on both the ground floor and the first floor. The restrooms are located on the third floor, but all floors are accessible by elevator, ensuring convenience for all visitors.

Ambience: The ambience of the restaurant perfectly complements the historic building it occupies. It creates a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere that aligns seamlessly with the restaurant's offerings. Despite the modern burger menu, it retains a sense of connection to the history and location.

Food: The burgers at Manhattn's Burgers are exceptional. The meat is Irish Angus beef, perfectly cooked and juicy, with unique recipes that reflect the quality of the ingredients. Freshness is evident in every bite – the bun is soft and fresh, and the flavors blend beautifully. The truffle mayonnaise adds a wonderful touch to the burger, elevating it to an even higher level. The fries are crispy and unsalted, allowing you to season them to your liking. Each table is also equipped with chili seasoning, Heinz ketchup, mustard, and Tabasco.

Service: The staff is friendly and attentive. Tables are regularly cleared and kept clean, contributing to a tidy and pleasant dining environment. Orders are placed at the counter, where you receive a buzzer that alerts you when your food is ready, making for a simple and efficient service system.

Prices: The prices are in line with the quality of the food and service. The burgers and sides are worth the cost, given the high-quality ingredients and excellent taste.

Conclusion: Manhattn's Burgers in Ghent is an excellent choice for gourmet burger lovers. With its idyllic location by the Leie River, pleasant atmosphere, outstanding food, and friendly staff, this is a restaurant I...
