Patrick Foley's — Restaurant in Ghent

My boyfriend was visiting me in Ghent for the weekend and we decided to go for dinner in Foley's last night. Our original waitress (who wasn't friendly at all) took our order and I asked for the bacon, cheese burger and specified that I would like it really well done, my boyfriend said he would have the same but with no cheese. Our burgers came out and mine was perfect, however, my boyfriend's was very under done, so he politely asked a different waitress passing by could he have it cooked a bit more. A few minutes later the burger was returned cooked well done but had lots of cheese on it, when my boyfriend specified no cheese! There was a lot of whispering and staring going on between the staff (which is so rude) I called the original waitress over to ask for a knife and fork for my partner and when she came over she didn't even allow me to ask the question, she very rudely asked what the problem was with the order. My boyfriend politely said that it came out cooked under done when he asked for it well done. She very very ignorantly and with a nasty tone started disagreeing and arguing with my boyfriend. I then cut across and said could we please just get another knife and fork and she placed it on the table with such an attitude. My partner didn't eat his burger at all because of the cheese added onto it (we chose not to complain about this, due to the way we were treated) and also because he was so angry. I forgot to mention that on the menu it says 'all burgers and fries €15 to students with valid student ID cards.' So, when she was originally taking our order we both showed her our student cards, however, when we went to pay she charged us full price! I have never been treated so badly at a restaurant, I completely understand that she made a mistake and we were nothing but polite to her, however, it was her customer service and nasty attitude that I was so upset with. I will never understand how she works in hospitality because her manner was outrageous. Foleys is an Irish pub, and as an Irish girl living in Ghent I love the atmosphere there and the food is very nice too, but I will never return due to the way we...

We stumbled upon this spot while looking for a Bailey's coffee one evening, and after checking out the menu online, we knew we had to give it a try. The food was so good that we ended up going back the very next night!

The portions are generous, and everything we had was warm, hearty, and full of flavor just like you'd hope for with Irish pub food. The vibe of the place was equally lovely: cozy, welcoming, and full of character.

We had some pub classics like bangers & mash and fish & chips, but the real stars were the starters. The dirty loaded Irish chips and the nachos with beef were absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and perfect for sharing.

Oh, and we did have the Bailey's coffee—rich, creamy, and the perfect treat to end the meal. The Guinness on tap was perfectly poured and smooth, just as it should be.

We definitely recommend this place and will be back...

Where to begin. Patrick Foley’s, a pub where I’ve drank, dined and generally enjoyed my time many times throughout the years. Yesterday was no exception. time I’ve tried the ribs there (recommended by a dear friend of mine, shoutout Arne!), and they most certainly delivered. One of the juiciest ribs I’ve tried in Ghent. After a beer or 3 me and my mates went home, and as usual I managed to forget something. My wallet this time. Bummed out as that gets you, I called with small hopes to retrieve it, only to be assured it was found. So not only can you go there for top noch burgers, steak, ribs and more, but the people there posses some old skool vallues I feared were not possible to be found anymore. Needless to say I simply had to treat myself to a steak and ginger beer while I was there. Big shoutout to the staff there and a solid 5/5 stars....
