Midi — Restaurant in Ghent

I would avoid a business that doesn't want business. I would also question the response. Not all true.

So unsure if the business owner has called me a "loon". Or if Google Translate is wrong. Isn't that nice and professional?

We didn't view the menu before seating.

They didn't rush us. I never claimed they did.

I apologised for the misunderstanding to the lady and got no reply.

We asked once about food, not twice. The attitude was terrible when asked the question.

Many famous restaurants allow people to drink. If you want to be fine dining then tell people. If you don't want money from customers then fine.

In the UK we have restaurants and bars. Both have staff with manners. Both will serve you a drink only.

This isn't apparent at Midi and in fairness, this isn't the UK. However, our whole time in Belgium we never experienced this policy. They will not serve you drinks unless you order food. Fine. Explain that upfront. The menu is mainly for dinner (not lunch when we visited).

The staff attitude is appalling, it is like we are not getting our way so we will act like spoilt kids. I told them nicely just drinks. They told me rudely it's food and drinks.

I would never reccomend. Atmosphere very poor no music just people talking. Staff not very welcoming. My croque monsieur was just a ham and chees toast...bread was too dry and hard i barely ate. I asked for a coffee they forgot to bring it. Prices very high for the quality of food. And worst of all i went to the toulet and on the left side wide opened was a man ...no doors..nothing straight in the hall of the toilet they have mens with no door or anything to cover i found it desgusting to wash my hands while 1m a man is peeing...i could not even look in...

The staff are super helpful and friedly. I cannot fault them at all. But. The museum charges you 12 Euro entrance and when you start through the 2 levels you quickly realize that this is the smallest art museum/gallery you will see in a long time.

I am no art fundi but i found many "pieces" disappointing and should in my opinion not be regarded as art.
