I had an exceptional dining experience at Hunami, a beautifully decorated restaurant with a stunning open kitchen concept. Watching the Japanese chefs hard at work was mesmerizing, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen were tantalizing. Despite the language barrier, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, using gestures and smiles to guide us through the menu.
I opted for the chicken bao starter and beef ramen, while my friend chose the prawn tempura bao and beef ramen. The staff also recommended a side of chicken, which turned out to be delicious homemade fried popcorn chicken smothered in a spicy mayonnaise sauce. While it was a tasty addition, the bao and ramen were so satisfying that it was almost more than I needed.
The food was phenomenal, with the ramen being a standout – the broth was rich and savory, leaving a lasting impression that had me craving more. The beef was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The portion size was generous, and while I struggled to finish it, every bite was worth savoring.
The staff's hospitality extended beyond the menu, as they offered valuable advice on traveling to Bruges by train. Their kindness and willingness to help made our experience even more special.
As a halal option in Brussels, Hunami shines brightly. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Japanese cuisine. Be sure to come hungry, as the servings are generous, and don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations – they're...
Read moreWe had heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and were excited to visit. While the experience didn’t fully meet our expectations, there were still some positive aspects. The service was friendly, and the prices were fair, but the tables were a bit too close together, which made it feel a little cramped.
We ordered starters and a main dish, and both came out at the same time, which was unexpected. Nevertheless, the food was great and tasted very good! For future customers, I’d recommend asking if the starters are hot or cold—some were cold, which surprised us 🙂
The ramen was amazing, and the starters were delicious, but my chicken was floating in soup, which unfortunately made the crispiness disappear. The sauce was mild and lacked the boldness we were hoping for (it was basically Andalouse Sauce for Brussels people 🙌).
That said, the overall value and service were good. I’d give it an 8.4/10, and with a few improvements, this place could definitely be...
Read moreOne of the worst restaurants we've tried in Brussels. There was absolutely nothing Japanese to it.
I really regret not following all the other non-fake/paid comments about the food quality and service.
The ramen tasted like salted water filled with overcooked instant noodles swimming around. After a couple of forced sips, my friend and I actually stopped eating despite the price we paid... We also tried the teriyaki skewers which felt extremely chewy and tasteless, entirely covered with really sweet sauce. The waiters didn't pay attention to us and didn't offer any kind of gesture despite the very long wait, the total apathy, and the two almost full bowls we left on the table.
An extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.
Cheap decor, cheap service, cheap ingredients... If you enjoy real food and proper service, please don't waste your time and money in Hanami, even if it's your...
