TO AVOID. Just awful. We were a group of 13 people, who all ordered a big amount of drinks and shots. One of us brought a single Club Matte from the night shop because that person could not have anything else and that drink is NOT served at the store.
She sipped it outside of the bar when we were smoking. The barman came out to us, slammed our table, and started yelling for us to leave. The tone was immediately confrontational and unbelievably rude. We calmly explained that we would gladly get that friend an extra drink from the bar, we were not trying to disrespect the business, she just couldn't have something else (and again, all the rest of us had each already bought a lot of drinks). Second sentence he utters, he calls our friend uneducated and a bit**(!!?). After that things escalated as we defended our friend, he threatened to beat up everyone present.
Most unhinged moment of the whole ordeal, he said he would gladly beat up our friend because "he believes in equality". Surely he couldn't wait to use that pathetic remark as an excuse for his aggression.
Was it because she is a person of colour he immediately called her uneducated? Or he just has severe anger management issues and fantasizes beating up women? I suggest going somewhere where you don't have to find out.
All this over a single caffeinated drink that our friend had outside. I can't believe this man is allowed to be in contact with people with that behavior. I suppose it's not a surprise the bar is due for closure in a month.
Edit after the owner's "response": the waiter in fact DID NOT say to our friend anything, he made vague remarks to our other friends and never asked her that she does not do it. If that were the case, we would have fixed the situation simply. To assume we were looking for a fight or playing the victim shows how little you actually care about how people are treated at your business. Also the waiter in question is white as snow so I am not certain what type of play you try to make there. Lastly, not sure who is writing this response but even the owner admitted that his employee's behavior was unacceptable, which is why he said that he would discuss with him. Maybe he should also discuss that it was the waiter who said that they were closing in a month. If you are trying to save face then perhaps tell your employees that threatening harm is a bad look to begin with. We have been to other places and never had an issue like this. Can your clients...
Read moreWe loved this restaurant so much, we went twice in 4 days! We were in Brussels for a short time and visited lâAmour Fou for dinner on our second night. At first, we were a little thrown after ordering nachos and a tiny plate arrived with 6 chips stuck in a Tbsp of sour cream... THIS IS NOT THE NACHOS. Haha! Everybody gets this. Itâs like their version of a bowl of breadsticks. Donât freak out! The actual nachos arrived and we realized our error. Weâre still laughing. :P. The nachos were great, and the burgers and fries we ordered (all of this being GF!) were incredible. Such good fries! It is Belgium after all. The real deal. We were so full and happy! We noticed before leaving that they did brunch as well, so we made a point to come back for brunch the day we left for Amsterdam. It was Motherâs Day, but even so, we easily found seats as soon as they opened. My fiancĂ© and I ordered the sweet and savoury pancakes, then each ate half and then swapped. I must say, even with my sweet tooth, the savoury pancakes blew my mind. The dill cream, the spicy mayo, the cheese, fried egg, zucchini, mushrooms... omg. It ranks pretty high among my âfavourite breakfasts everâ. Like, probably number 1. I couldnât stop making yummy noises. đ Bravo, LâAmour Fou! We will never...

Two visits on two adjacent days, for early dinner and lunch, and I like the place. Had the Salmon Galore salad for dinner and liked that very much---large fish portion, lots of greens with a tasty dressing, plus well baked sweet potatoes that went very well with the rest. For lunch I took one of the burgers and was generally happy with it---decently grilled meat, good combination of ingredients and a non-dominating bun, although nothing particularly groundbreaking. I had more interesting burgers back home, in Warsaw.
Thereâs the usual selection of popular beers and a large choice of cocktails. The place apparently tries to resemble an american diner, but to me seemed more like an artistâs take on it. Certainly not like the diners we know from the States.
Service was very pleasant, easily speaking English. They did pleasantly surprise me during dinner, where the waiter first warned me the kitchen wouldnât open for another 20 minutes (and was happy to supply me with peanuts to ease the wait), but took my order and eventually the salad came after maximum 10 mins. Underpromissed,...
