Quartier Leopold — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

I was hopefully optimistic with Quartier Leopold. It seemed like one of the nicer restaurants in the area. The atmosphere was decent. The hostess/busser/fill in server was on the ball! She was always moving. Our waiter, on the other hand, varied between nonexistent and nonplus. He was very present to show and pour the wine, then was preoccupied with talking to his friends near the entrance. We had to flag down the hostess to get him to come back to our table so we could order the entre. Then he told us that he just seated a large table and we are lucky that he came over. The food was ok (bof!), and the calimars was served in a paper "boat". Not ideal for the scale of restaurant that this likes to say they are. The hostess served us, by the way, not our waiter. We didn't see him again until after dinner, and yet again, we flagged down the hostess and had her have him bring our check. When we said we wanted to split it 50/50, he was visibly displeased.

I am not one to give a bad review if not absolutely warranted. The food was decent. The hostess was top notch. The waiter was extremely poor. I would not recommend going here PRIMARILY because of the waiter....

AVOID!!! 4 of my mates got food poisoning after we had a meal there. Other times the bartender (clearly high out of his mind) ignores you when you try to order and when you complain, he acts all defensive as if he was the victim. For the comment bellow (ORIGINAL FOR ANYONE READING THIS: Put 1 star review after whistling at waiter like a pet!!!! Shame on you !! Respect is not an option !!!) I am physically incapable of whistling, so either you confuse me with some lowlife or you are just a simple liar. My bet it is the latter. Absolutely loved my visit to QUARTIER LÉOPOLD!

The food was incredibly delicious! Chicken was so fresh and juicy; fries and salad were incredible! But what made this place even more special was our amazing waitress! She was so sweet and kind to us the whole time (here’s our cute selfie together).

It was my last day in Brussels and she helped us figure out where to go and wrote down a list of must-visit places in the city (sharing that note too because it was such a kind gesture!).

I left with a full belly and a full heart. Thank you for making my last day in Brussels so...
