Ginette Bar — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

Went with colleagues (around 14 people) for some drinks recently. Ordered €120 of drinks and paid by credit card. Was given the card receipt but when I asked for an itemised receipt from the till for my expenses I was told that this wasn't possible. Asked again and was given one but was told "we can't give anymore itemised receipts from the till". I politely told the waitress that if they couldn't give an itemised receipt then I couldn't order anymore drinks and she shrugged and just said "ok". So instead of probably spending another €400 - €500 that night we went next door and spent it there. A shame really as I like the bar but as friendly as the staff are there is an issue with professionalism. We have work drinks at least once per month so if they can't give itemised receipts then it will mean we go to a different bar and they'll lose around €4,500 per year... it's a...

A nice evening with colleagues, ruined by cheap wine and below par food. Of course, I should have known not to expect much in terms of wine from a beer place. As the only wine drinker, I was so disappointed, their selection was abysmal. Food-wise it wasn’t any better, I got spare ribs. It came without side dish (they tell you on the menu though), but with just 7 small ribs, I’m hardly satisfied. The mini burgers some of my friends got didn’t look any better. Ginette never disappoints me. It used to be The gathering place for progressive voices in the EU bubble, but this concept of an organic brewery serving organic food has found crowds of all political colors. You can just find a group of bankers too (okay maybe the green-minder bankers). Everything on the menu is good. Today I had the vegan burger, but also the melanzane parmigiana, the home made falafel and the Thai chicken curry are good comfort food. Don’t think “oh it’s full” when you enter. Ask.
