Piano A is a hidden gem located just outside the busier center of Leuven, neatly tucked away behind the library. This smaller pizzeria with its crisp white interior and marbled tables is managed by a group of Italians who embody everything great about Puglia: vibrant, charming, always concerned with the wellbeing of their guests and passionate about their food and regional products. This shows in both the service and the food.
The pizzas themselves are nothing short of incredible. The dough is well-seasoned, crispy but at the same time just chewy enough. This is then topped with a creamy passata, oozy straciatella and lucatella ham bursting with flavor. Add a glass of wine or a beer from Salento and you're set for success.
Expect a varied selection of pizzas with several seasonal or temporary options and a small sufficient choice of appetizers and desserts.
Last but definitely not least: their customer service is impeccable! You will receive a warm welcome, quick and correct service and they will go the extra mile to make you feel at home.
Treat yourself to a pizza from people who take pride in their work, you won't be...
Read moreDroopped in on a Thursday night at 6:30 while traveling for business - the host was willing to seat me as long as I promised to be out by 8. Steady stream of locals coming in to get take out and a few families around enjoying an early dinner. The waiter recommended the special so I went with that, a "autumn" pizza with butternut squash puree, ham and mushrooms with a glass of Montepulciano. The crust was perfect but I think the squash and Buffalo milk mozzarella was a little too much liquid so the center of the pie was a little soggy. The flavors were great however, and I really enjoyed it. Looking around at other diner's as the place filled up, the standard pies seemed more firm so I think it was just an experiment that didn't work as well as they had hoped. Service was great, attentive but not intrusive and they didn't seem to be trying to rush me out to...
Read morePoor customer service. Owner forces the requirement of compulsory food and pizza per person when you arrive (and not when reserving). Do not come here if you just want to grab a pizza.
Extremely kid unfriendly. Owner forces the above requirements on a kid of any age (god forbid a 5 year old share a pizza instead of ordering a full one). Or if kid has a water bottle because she is not allowed external drinks at her young age. It's a no no.
You must comply with all of the above, or you will be forced to leave. For all I know, there are more rules. I got tired of complying after the fourth time he made a face and tried to force more orders.
Owner excuses bad behavior by saying they are a small place with costs. I am all for supporting small places, but I cannot in good conscience condone such customer treatment. You may have better...
