Nobu Sushi — Restaurant in Leuven

Extremely tasty and unique sushi, ordered the two vegan combi’s (sakura and regular). Got an extra side dish (edamame) for free, the hosts gave us menus in both english and dutch which were very detailed, and descriptive. Big plus for the vegan options and the gluten-free soy sauce. The hosts were very nice and kind, very eager to teach us fun facts about all of the food we had and the traditional way of serving and eating, which we enjoyed a lot, it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Also greatly appreciated the tips and tricks regarding sushi in general. We also ordered two Japanese beers, a Kirin and an Asahi, very smooth and enjoyable beers, definitely a good pairing for the sushi. The two sauces we got with the combi’s, miso and teriyaki were just heavenly , sweet, savoury, and especially good in combination with the sushi, the miso sauce especially was very yummy, because it’s homemade and exclusive to dining in, congrats to the chef, it’s definitely a favourite and must have from now on.

Overall we had a genuinely enjoyable experience, and a special evening, the service was excellent, and very friendly, will definitely visit again in the future, to experience the rest of the menu with...

We reserved a table here for my wife's birthday. Being sushi lovers it was quite a gamble going to a new place for a night out.

Upon entry we noted that there's a very relaxed atmosphere. The walls are painted a neutral dark beige. The tables and chairs have a black and brown leather and suede theme and there are beautiful small plant arrangements as centrepieces of each table. Every table also has its own bottle of soy sauce. Our waiter took our coats.

When we ordered, we were also offered an alcoholic appetizer. When our drink arrived we received a complimentary starter which was beautifully presented.

Before the sushi arrived we received three small bowls to use with our tempura - one had teriyaki sauce, one had sweet chilli sauce and one had spicy mayonnaise. The sushi arrived shortly after and was masterfully presented.

They gave us an interesting assortment of sushi - some had some fruit inside and on top and we were very pleasantly surprised with the explosion of taste that came from it.

The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and the price was more than fair. This is definitely our new favourite...

I had high hopes seeing the very positive reviews, but having tried it I personally didn't find it as great as what everyone else thinks.

The amount of rice was way too much for the nigiri sushis, in proportion with the fish slice. The rice paper one with sweet and sour chili sauce was odd, and did not taste anything like sushi. The fish could have been fresher as well. There's other places in Leuven that are better, but I might try other menu items to see if those are any better.

Update: tried their delux sushi menu. For €30+ per person they had a lot of sushi with no fish (lots of cheaper "filler" ingredients like pickles, cucumber, etc). I'll stick with other places in...
