Carlton — Restaurant in Mechelen

Very friendly service, helpful staff. We were having dinner with our newborn, not being used to the baby yet, we were sometimes clumsey and figuring out how to bottle feed a baby in a restaurant and changing diaper in the restroom. The dinner service planned around us, and when the appetiser was done, while my wife was still upstairs in the restroom with the baby, they made sure it was kept warm.

Of course the food is very tasty and they have a good menu.

Nestled among other cafés and restaurants on a square in the centre of Mechelen. Nice patio to drink your coffee in the morning sun (the restaurants on the other side get the afternoon sun).

Had the "Mechelen Coucou" for lunch: chicken stuffed with some cheese, green pea mousse and mashed potatoes with walnuts and more. Comes with a sauce that I asked to hold as I'm avoiding gluten. It was good, without going to great. The green pea mousse was a great surprise though.

Really pleasant experience, the carlton restaurant is well located, facing "grote markt" in Mechelen. The kitchen remains open throughout the day, I was welcome to eat around 2PM and quickly seated by the window, Service was great (waiter came quickly) took the order, brought good bread and butter. 5 min later the Fettuccini, I ordered were served (see picture). in a nutshell, this is a comfortable restaurant with good foods This place deserve their current excellent rating...
