WASBAR — Restaurant in Mechelen

I would consider this place 'fine' in general. We had the nacho macho and the hummus tomato starter (vegetarian dish) with tropical and raspberry lemonade. The hummus tomato dish was very tasty, but it was the only thing for us that was a real success. The personnel was friendly, the atmosphere is nice and it wasn't too busy, so service was fast. Overall it wasn't all bad. The nacho macho was a lukewarm plate of nachos with the hamburger cheddar cheese melted a bit over it and a few pieces of pulled beef. The lemonades tasted like tap water with soda stream bubbles and a little bit of syrup in it. There was absolutely no lemon taste to the raspberry 'lemonade'. For 4.9 euros, I honestly would expect my lemonade to taste better than the syrup water I make at home, not worse. The cutlery in the bucket on the table was dirty (with pieces of food stuck to it, though they were clearly washed at some point, nobody checked when putting them on the table). I went to Wasbar for lunch at 12:20. I ordered from the barcode on the table. Waitress came around 12:25 with water from my order. I saw the restaurant was packed so I was a bit patient not asking for my food until 13:20. It seems the kitchen had forgotten to make my order. The waitress told me it would take 10 minutes. An additional 25 minutes past so I went inside and told them I needed to leave.... they rushed the order out and it was wrong!!! They had to make me another sandwich which I packed up and ate at home in a rush for another meeting. I didn't even have time to enjoy it as I had to est it in 10 minutes... worst experience thus far in Mechelen go to Coffice!!

I suggest to hire more waitresses. One is not enough to manage 20 to 30 full tables! Even with automation of the orders.

Have your waiters and waitresses check the tables... you still need a human factor in the servi e industry. You cannot eliminate this part of...

The place itself is really pretty and the food was amazing! We wanted to try it out since I've just moved to Mechelen with my boyfriend and the washing machine we ordered hasn't arrived yet, and we were absolutely not disappointed! Definitely worth the price and the wait. The waitress was also really nice and helped us figure out how the laundry part works, since it was our very first time in a Wasbar. There were only three washing machine and two dryers, but there was both a free washing machine and a free dryer when we needed them. Maybe it's not needed for most customers? We could drop our clothes before ordering food and then come back a couple of hours later for the dryer. I don't know if consumption is mandatory to use the washing machines and/or dryers.
