We went there for some cat experience for my 5 year old son who just loves cats. When we went to the place, it was not clear whether it was open it closed. After figuring out that we need to ring the bell at the locked door, the host opened door. She didn't even bother to say hi but started with a blunt 'we have rules for kids - they just need to sit down at one place'. It was quite unwelcoming. At the table we sat, unfortunately, there was no cat, but my son was very excited to see all the cats. When he went close to one of the cats next to our table, another host bluntly said that we should not approach the cats, and let them approach us. We were just waiting there with no cats near us, and watching others play, and our son was eager to play with cats but got started to get disappointed. We were 3 adults, but the way we were instructed, we were unclear whether even adults are allowed to approach cats or not. So we were just waiting. Our son started crying as he wanted to play with cats. The hosts saw him crying, but were non-chalant. One of the hosts was just sitting with a cat on her lap next to her table, but did not care. The people in the table next to us were leaving, and there was a cat on their table, we thought of shifting to that table so that our son could have a little cat time, but the owner didn't allow us to move to that table. He did brush that cat a little, but we were concious all the time. Coming to the food, latte and cappuccino cost 3 euros and were very bad, and orange juice that cost 5eur was smaller than the small bottle of fresh orange juice you would get in Express store for 1.5eur. Well, we would have completely forgiven the bad food, if we had a good experience. So overall I would rate 1) food: 0, 2) cat experience for us: 0, 3) hospitality: 0. Overall very poor experience and left us with regret for having...

Review Date: August 2, 2024
One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a café. A staff member displayed extreme racism towards my family and me. We arrived at the café at 5 PM and patiently waited at the door, being the first ones there. Despite this, the staff member refused to let us in, claiming the café was full. We waited for an hour, during which we saw other customers of her own race being allowed in ahead of us.
My 10-year-old son, who was visibly upset and crying, was coldly told by the staff member, “You can leave, there is no place for you here,” while she waved us away dismissively. Her behavior was not only heartless but blatantly discriminatory. We were treated as if we were begging for money or seeking shelter, rather than paying customers who had traveled all the way from Cairo to visit this café.
When I confronted the staff member about her actions, she was extremely rude, confirming my suspicion of racial bias. Her actions were not only unprofessional but also deeply humiliating. This is an experience that no one should have to endure.
I strongly advise anyone considering a visit to this café to think twice. The racist and hostile behavior we encountered was appalling and unacceptable. It is a matter of grave concern, and I hope no one else has to suffer such humiliation.
Avoid this place at all...
Read moreHaving visited cat cafes in several cities (Shanghai, Montreal, London, etc) I was so pleased to find one in Brussels, but let chat touille dissapointed à lot. The space is very small and the cats are lethargic and at least one is largely overweight. The cafe has a smell of not being clean-like they have just covered up the smell of waste rather than cleaning. Also, I was told that the cats spend majority of time alone in the cafe as it only opens evening several times a week. Otherwise they are alone and cooped up. The cats fur doesn't even feel clean which is very worrisome as healthy cats self-groom.
I didn't even see water bowl for the cats, but I saw that many guests order milk and then allow the cats to drink from the milk glass. Actually, even though cats love milk it is not healthy for them to drink it, a bit is okay but excessive, even to the amount I've seen them drinking is very unhealthy for cats.
I usually support animal cafes as they are opened and run by animal lovers and represent support for adoption / shelters etx, but in le chat touille I didn't feel that and wouldn't go back until it changes. The cafe is for profit, with only the small items/souvenir going as for the cats. As an animal lover I would recommend you think twice before visiting or you...
