Zio — Restaurant in Waterloo

To start with some positive points, the restaurant is very clean, they had a glutenfree option for my friend and the service is friendly. The food however... some people at our table thought it was okay, but I was disappointed. The tagliatelli carbonara was very bland tasting and overcooked. The portions for everyone were too small in my opinion (considering the price) and the tiramisu was dreadful (and definitely not fresh). The decor was a little weird for an italian restaurant (there seemed to be a zebra thing going on?). Also didn't enjoy them letting someone try and sell Hello Kitty toys at our table inside the restaurant (although I appreciate the owners trying to help someone earn a little something, it felt a little out of place). I've definitely been to worse restaurants, but I don't think I'll ever go back. UPDATE: spent lots of time on the toilet the day...

Customer service is excellent. Many delicious menu items and very fresh and yummy pasta dishes. No Italian chardonnays and limited whites available which is why I gave it a 4 star rating instead of 5. However, A VERY robust menu with many options for all culinary tastes. Desserts are varied and numerous, so do save some room for your selection. A very popular and busy restaurant. Make reservations far in advance. Opens at 7 pm for dinner. Parking on street only which is normal...

C'est très rare que je laisse un avis négatif mais là c'était trop: 45min pour prendre la commande 1h pour avoir les apéros même pas une olive pour accompagner entrée : calamars frits très bons mais assiette Zio pitoyable (charcuterie de mauvaise qualité, oubli du fromage, quantité médiocre) plat: pâtes trop cuites, quantité moyenne, goût de banal à immonde (raviolis farcis avec une viande au goût proche de celui du canigou. Pâtes tomates buffala: on avait mis du miel ! Tomates peu goûteuses. Je cherche encore la buffala) dessert ou café: on n'a pas osé service désorganisé, incompétent ces infos ont été communiquées et même pas un geste commercial (offrir un verre, s'excuser ou autre). Désolée pour ce feed-back public négatif. Si notre déception avait été prise en compte, car les mauvais jours peuvent arriver, je n'aurais pas fait...
