A nice Vegan/Vegetarian option in Belize. Chose this restaurant as it was best rated in Belize City, and close to cruise port visited on 01/25/2024. It is literally located right next to port, almost touching it but you must walk out of port and around to the right to get to the property, they are just a couple blocks from the Belize sign. Families should be aware, the minute you walk away from port gates/port security we ran into some shady characters lingering/watching/aggressively trying to sell just outside of port, so just keep your situational awareness up, and you'll be fine. It's only about a block walk. Martha's Cafe had new waitress working who was sweet, but was brand new w/little knowledge of anything. My daughter order french toast she brought waffles, lol. The food and drinks were delicious, nice view of bay from upstairs deck. They do charge a mandatory service fee per table! Though the food was good, and service was ok, the prices were VERY high for the value proposition of what you receive in return. Though, I would recommend this location as a clean place to eat with a nice view, but understand you will be paying twice as much as most breakfast locations. As I say there is the Locals Prices, the Tourist Prices and then the CRUISE TOURIST Prices...the cost was close to $100. USD. for 3 breakfast and 4 drinks....Nothing crazy unique(ex. French toast, and juice). As I said food tasted fresh, was good, nice view. Just expensive, hopefully owners use feedback and will adjust pricing to encourage many more...
Read moreToday (3/23/23) I went in and a lady (later identified as the owner Martha) chose not to speak to me. She spoke to all the other customers, who were white, and did not address me. She asked the other patrons (3 in the party) if they were staying at the cottages and they said no. She extended the invitation to them for the opening of the downstairs deck. She spoke to the older white couple who were behind me but I guess my dark face was invisible. My hope is her disdain does not bleed into how she treats the workers. That was the end of my week there. I noted the “colorism” in Belize and that saddens me. Another day I was sick and a lady (later identified as the owner’s daughter) was very kind. I thank her for her concern and attention. Her caring attitude along with the good food are the only reasons it is not a one star review.
Food: 5 stars- being vegetarian made this the spot for tasty and nutritious food.
Customer service: 5 stars- everyone from the kitchen staff to the serving staff were friendly. They gave exceptional service. I know where your training originated.
Martha, we are all one (whether Black or white, rich or poor). I pray for healing love and light to you. As above, so below!!!

Read moreWe went to Martha's last night for dinner because it was right next to our hotel. They were out of a number of ingredients/ dishes. We ordered the nachos but the chips were quite stale. We all ordered our meals and after about 20 minutes the waitress told us they didn't have any lasagna (which someone in our party ordered, so he got a pizza instead). We all got our food and then another 20 minutes passed before the pizza came out. While we were waiting for the pizza I saw an employee walk up the stairs with some ingredients in her hand, including a jar of sauce. Not sure why it wasn't in the kitchen or where it came from. My boyfriend told the waitress about his severe food allergies when he placed his order, but he still had to remind her multiple times during the meal. She didn't know the ingredients of any of the dishes so she had to keep checking back with the chef. I ordered a side of chicken which never came. We asked for the extra pizza to be boxed up but the waitress took it away and never brought us the box. We went again this morning because we were in a rush and it seemed to be the only cafe nearby. The food was okay but not very big portions. Maple syrup was fake. Chai was very...
