Carlo & Ernie's Runway Bar — Restaurant in San Pedro Town

During the afternoon the staff consisted of one server, one bar man, and maybe 2 cooks. Service is on "island" time. So expect to wait an extra 10min to 20min based on how busy it is. The food is good, though it is not what a typical American may expect for basic Tex-Mex. Their burritos are drenched in a beef sauce, with extra thick tortilla chips on the side. French fries are basic with a dash of Old Bay. It's not bad for the price. If it's Tex-Mex you want tonight, this is a good option.

Please keep in mind of the following.

1. As of the time of writing, the government has pegged the exchange rate at 1 to 2. As in 1 American dollars = 2 Belizean dollars. All prices are in Belizean dollars unless otherwise stated.

2. You MUST tip! Assume all the normal tipping rules for America apply here in this country.

3. Due to Covid, all places of business must close by 9pm due to curfew laws. No late night drinks here...

Staff here needs to be careful about assuming that a customer is a tourist. We sat at the bar to watch football, drank several beers between the two of us, ordered food as well, and then the bartender seemed to try to run us off so a regular that had ordered one glass of wine in the same time period could conduct business. We got the feeling that this is where several realtors were trying to con tourists into buying property. Prices are higher than most places on the island and the quality of the food does NOT make up for the inflated prices. I liked sitting along the runway to watch football, but I know I can find a better place to watch football. Bottom line,...

This was our second visit, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The first time, we chose to stop by because they had several TVs showing the NBA playoffs, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. We ordered the chicken burger and wings, both of which were absolutely delicious—plus, they happily let me get all flats, which was a big plus!

Deciding to return the very next day, we tried the chicken sandwich again along with the grouper sandwich. Both were hits! They came with crispy fries and homemade coleslaw, which perfectly complemented our meals.
