We stopped by Sandy Toes for dinner. I had my first Ceviche and it was good other than the over powering lime juice. I have no idea if this is how it is supposed to be as I have not tried it before and doubt I will again if this is the norm for this dish?
My wife had grilled chicken breast with coconut rice. The chicken was nicely spiced but the coconut rice tasted like plain rice with not a hint of coconut?
One daughter had chicken wings and cheesy fries which she said were great. I tried some of the fries and I thought that they tasted good and were cooked to perfection.
Our other daughter had a order of beef nachos which were forgotten by our server but they quickly got her order together and saved face. The nachos were good and she voted them the second best of the three different places that we had tried while here.
It was a good atmosphere and being right on the beach was a bonus. Worth checking out if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive meal by...
Read moreSandy toes is nearly everything you could want in a beach bar - beach, sand, people watching, drinks, great beach bar food (ceviche, nachos, burritos). Only thing that makes an even better bar would be games. But, the location and overall vibe is so great, I don’t think it needs it. The road goes right between the main part of the bar and the ocean seating. I considered this a nice feature as I enjoyed watching people go by. It wasn’t very crowded when we visited. There was only one little fellow playing in the water, but I imagine this place takes on a whole new feel when there are lots of kiddos playing in the water. Again, more great people watching. There is bar as well as table seating inside. We ordered the shrimp ceviche and shared. It was very fresh and very large. A very slight amount of rain fell while we were there. They were prepared for it and eager to help us if we wanted to move in. However, we enjoyed the light sprinkle...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this bar after having a nice dinner at another restaurant. We found out most bars and restraunts close around 9:00-9:30 so we got word this place was open late. We ordered shrimp ceviche and two mojitos. Bartender made a point to ignore us and walked away when we asked about drinks and appetisers. The first two drinks were pretty good then we asked for another round. My wife got a drink and it was straight up lemon water with some mint..... Bartender avoiding us and slinging drinks to everyone else he could. Finally he could tell we were getting irritated and made us two mediocre mojitos and frozen Walmart tasting ceviche. The reggae band was pretty good and the bar people were cool. No problems what so ever with the scene. My wife is a local girl and I'm white as mayonnaise but still no reason not to be cool to us. We treat everyone fair. Just saying. Not a good experience in San Pedro. We won't come back...
