As a Bermudian based overseas, when I come home, I’m always asking for the best restaurant recommendations to tryout. Yesterday, I was told The Cottage Café was a great option for lunch, so I made my way over w/ my colleague.
We both ordered the Wahoo wrap, I specifically told the waitress no tomatoes (I have a health issue that prevents me from eating foods high in lectin) and asked for extra onions instead, she said no problem and made a note of it. The food came, I noticed there were no extra onions and I let it go, no big deal. As I ate the second half of my wrap, I noticed a large tomato in there and pulled it out to show her.
I let the waitress know this could have been really bad for me and she responded “well I’m just a waitress, I’ll tell my manager”. She comes back and says I can give you a drink…I didn’t need a drink. Then says we can remake it but w/ limited time (had to get back to work) I said all I ask is that they discount my wrap.
The waitress said that wasn’t possible, fine, I paid $66 dollars (10$ gratuity included) for a wrap that could have sent me to the hospital. After paying, I asked to speak to the manager, showed her my receipt that said no tomatoes and she brushed it off, “oh the chef’s are used to making the same thing, it was muscle memory”, no accountability.
I brought up again how bad that could have been for me and even my colleague witnessed her getting pretty passive aggressive w/ me. I would expect better from a manager at such an establishment. Although the food was pretty good, I left disappointed with the service overlooking my request and concern.
Again, I’ve heard great things about The Cottage but unfortunately would not go back or recommend since comprehension nor customer safety was a...
Read moreGreat food quality, one of my favorite places for breakfasts. Came in for lunch we had the fish Sandwich with house fries and I think the special salad. The fish sandwich was a little underseasoned good quality, not crispy think it had a light coating and could have used more sauce. This is preference mostly nothing was wrong with the sandwich just my own preference. Potatoes where Crispy well seasoned very good. Wife enjoyed her salad as well. Would be 4.5 if I could rank it. I have been multiple times for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed myself....
