Visited for dinner during a recent visit to St George’s. The staff and service was oddly and comfortably rude which sadly overshadowed the decent food. We had a reservation. Upon arrival, workers buzzed around us but no one said a word to us. After being ignored for several minutes I approached a staff member to ask if we should seat ourselves - not a unrealistic question given there were empty tables and no one was acknowledging us. He literally laughed at me and turned to another worker and repeated my question loudly as if it were a ridiculous question, as both workers laughed. Neither myself nor anyone in my party found it funny. I was ready to leave at this point but my friend had coordinated the dinner so I stepped outside to wait so as not to escalate the situation as I was very annoyed. After a lengthy wait someone eventually asked my friend about our reservation and after a bit longer wait we were seated outside. We placed our order and one of my friends wasn’t feeling well so she opted to order just a side of rice as she wasn’t sure what her stomach could handle. The server responded by making a face and rolling her eyes - completely unprofessional and rude behavior towards anyone, particularly a customer. Later, after the same friend did not finish the rice, the server told her she could toss it overboard for the fish to eat. My friend declined repeatedly. Instead of honoring her wishes the server got annoyed and picked up the rice and tossed it over herself into the water. We all just looked at her astonished. Why on earth a server would take food that someone else was paying for and dispose of it in a manner that they had clearly declined multiple times is beyond me. The server didn’t even flinch as if this was common, everyday behavior for her. After everything else we had witnessed from the staff, this was the last straw. We quickly requested the bill, paid and left,...
Read moreBeen coming to this restaurant a long time. It’s literally one of my favorites on island. Most birthdays in the family have been spent here.
In all the times I’ve been there, probably made 3 reservations with larger parties. But have never had to otherwise and always been accommodated as a walk in. 2-3 people. ( I was booking this one, as I didn’t want to just show up because although they allow walk-ins you’re made to feel like a burden at times)
This past week from Thursday morning to Saturday I made over 12 attempts at various times through out this period to make a booking for my mother’s birthday and not one call back or voicemail returned. I reverted to email just after 7:00 and someone 12 hours later replied they have no bookings for the date I had in mind. Not ONE. A whole day and no one can accommodate me ?! I feel I know who the respondent was because she’s short / blunt with patrons in person as well.
After querying this NO OPEN RESERVATIONS apprx. three days before intended date, she responds and says she has day time bookings or even the day before (as per my request for alternative date options). Finally after getting some feedback on open spots. Said I’d respond with a time in due course.
I reply later yesterday afternoon (THEY WERE OPEN) after further calls to establishment go unanswered. (I should have taken that as a sign). And many hours later, the next morning i follow up to see if anyone got my message with request. They finally respond and say they don’t have anything available and cannot accommodate me.
Their excuse is they’re busy this time of year, and cannot answer all calls. Offering for me to try them another day.
Well I won’t be back anytime soon. 🤷🏾♀️
Now on the finding a new venue for lunch. This should be fun.
Don’t feel like they wanted to take the booking to begin with. If im...
Read moreWe arrived at Wahoo’s Bistro & Patio in the mid-afternoon, just as their lunch rush was winding down. After a short wait to be seated outside, we were rewarded with a beautiful spot overlooking the water — definitely worth the wait.
Service was prompt and friendly. Our server quickly took our drink orders and handed us menus. We enjoyed a mix of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks along with an appetizer while soaking in the scenic view and the perfect Bermuda weather.
For our main courses, we ordered the Bermuda Triangle platter, fisherman’s platter, fish tacos, and a salad. The food arrived quickly, was served hot, and everything was cooked to order. Each dish was fresh and flavorful — we especially appreciated the local seafood selections.
Despite hearing that dining in Bermuda can be quite expensive, we found the prices at Wahoo’s to be reasonable — only slightly higher than what we’d expect to pay back home in the U.S.
A charming moment followed our meal: some sparrows fluttered over to our table’s edge, hoping for leftovers. We shared a few fries with them, and they seemed delighted — a fun and memorable little detail.
After settling our bill, we took a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of the older part of town, visiting nearby shops. Wahoo’s offered a great mix of good food, attentive service, and a laid-back atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend it and look forward to returning on my next...
