As a Canadian living in Brasília for three years, my wife and I stumbled upon this incredible, small, cozy, authentic restaurant during our trip to Ouro Preto for a wedding — and wow, what a find!

Jacubas Restaurante was honestly one of the best restaurant I’ve ever been to in Brazil (and maybe anywhere!). The food quality, flavor, and variety were outstanding. They offer both per-kilo (R$99/kg) and all-you-can-eat (R$75) options. I went for the all-you-can-eat, which also included dessert — and everything was unbelievable. My wife chose the per-kilo option, and both of us left absolutely amazed.

I’m a foodie, and I don’t say this lightly — everything tasted homemade, authentic, and full of flavor. The selection was huge, the portions generous, and the dessert table was out of this world.

It was so good that I actually went back a second time before leaving Ouro Preto.

If you’re visiting this beautiful historic city, do yourself a favor and eat here. Come hungry, bring friends, and enjoy one of the most delicious experiences you’ll find in Minas Gerais.

It is an all you can eat buffet/restaurant where you can choose two payment options: by weight (99 pessos) or per person regardless of quantity (75 pessos). Drinks and coffee extra. Foi minha salvação no almoço em Ouro Preto, porque é um self-service saboroso com arroz integral, grande variedade de saladas e legumes, e boas opções sem carne vermelha/porco. Consegui aproveitar a boa culinária mineira sem abrir mão do que eu considero saudável. Se não me engano, custa 89,90 o quilo ou 60 reais sem balança, com direito a repetições ilimitadas (exceto a sobremesa, que é sempre por quilo, mas essa eu não consumi). Ambiente agradável e atendimento amigável.

Destaque para a abóbora na última vez em que comi lá - que coisa maravilhosa!

Ressalto também a disponibilidade de vários tipos de pimentas no buffet, inclusive das que ardem de verdade, como malagueta e pimenta de bode - não é só...
