Arab — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

We first called the restaurant asking about some things of the menu since we lived far away, the menu was not updated as some items were not available. We were OK with that because it happens. Then we went to the restaurant which was 50 mins away. When we entered, we waited 20 minutes until a waiter was available. The restaurant was not extremely full. We wanted to ask some questions since the menu was in Portuguese and I do not understand Portuguese. My friend was able to understand but had some doubts. They were very rude to him then we ordered. The food was extremely cold, the hummus was very bad and the meat was cold. The food was horrible!! I have no idea how it was rated high. As an Arab, I had to say the food had a very low quality. We were out of bread and we asked for more, they brought us one bread to share between three people. After the food was brought, the waiter never came to check if everything is good until we asked him for the check. When the check arrived, there was a piece of paper hand written with an extra charges. I was wondering what are the extra charges but apparently they were some service charges. The service charge was $30 Br. After I refused to pay the charges since our bill was high anyway, he started swearing at his and that was very rude! I was surprised why the charge was very high. We asked the table beside us and they told us that they did not charge them any service charge. That showed me that since we were tourists, they had to charge us. I will never come back to this place. It is one of the worst restaurants in RIO! You should all try Amir restaurant which is close to Arab. It had much better food...

DO NOT EAT HERE! This place will get you sick. We came for dinner and it didn’t matter what we ordered, it was clear they gave us leftovers from their lunch buffet (didn’t match what we ordered). The most unfresh food I have ever ordered in my life. The meat tastes pungent and slightly spoiled. The fried onions was stale. The only thing I can relate this too is when you open a bag of chips then leave it wide open for a week and then try to eat it. This isn’t bad cooking, it’s undoubtedly old food. The fries and falafel were also stale (probably cooked earlier that day unlike the fried onions and meat which may have been a week old).

We barely touched anything and asked for the bill and paid and left. The waiter didn’t bother to ask us what’s wrong which leads me to believe people realize the food is bad and walk out all the time. Very dangerous and a health board should investigate them. Fomos até a unidade do Leblon no dia 30/04/2024 a noite pra comemorar o aniversário da minha mãe. Pedimos o rodízio, que custa 130 reais por pessoa. Nossa família tem descendência libanesa, estamos acostumados a comer comida árabe e sinceramente achamos tudo muito mais ou menos. O homus estava sem gosto, faltando limão e alho, o arroz com lentilha quase não tinha lentilha, a kafta dura e seca, o quibe cru sem tempero, o tabule com gosto de passado, enfim, não tinha nada muito ruim mas também nada muito gostoso. Mas o pior mesmo vem agora: depois de jantar, pedimos o cardápio pra escolher uma sobremesa e aproveitar pra ver novamente os pratos que vinham no rodízio. Foi aí que percebi que nem todos os pratos foram servidos, faltaram 3 ou 4 ítens que não vieram no nosso rodízio, apesar de estarem descritos no cardápio. Chamei o garçom e expliquei que já estávamos satisfeitos, mas que gostaria de entender o motivo do rodízio não ter vindo completo. Ele justificou dizendo: "é que a gente manda o que está melhor, é que tem coisa aí que é só pra encher, que entope...". Eu incrédula disse que se está no cardápio do rodízio tinha que ter sido servido. Ele perguntou se queríamos que ele trouxesse agora, mas eu expliquei que já estávamos sem fome. Ele então ofereceu a sobremesa que pedimos de cortesia. Enfim, gostaria de saber se é realmente o garçom quem define o que nós iremos comer no rodízio, se é ele quem escolhe o que vai ser servido e o que não porque "é só pra encher". Pagamos caro por um rodízio que, além da comida não ser gostosa, não veio completo e ainda tivemos que escutar esse argumento descabido do garçom. Não voltaremos mais ao restaurante e também não indico para quem quer comer comida árabe e ser bem tratado.
